Best goggle lens color?

Regular  100 |  Subject: Best goggle lens color?I know that it probably depends on the course, weather, time of day, etc., but I was wondering if there was a goggle lens color that is best for OWS or if clear lenses are the way to go. I did a practice a while back and had a terrible time picking out the buoy. I'm not sure if it was glare or color or what. |

Champion 7821 Brooklyn, NY | Subject: RE: Best goggle lens color? I wear smoke-tinted lenses all the time, training in the pool, OWS training, or racing. Blue-tinted lenses absorb orange light, which means they'll wash out the orange buoys and can make them hard to see on an overcast day. |

I love blue-tinted lenses, but they are terrible for OWS. I either use clear or very lightly tinted like sunglasses. |

Blue/brown/clear in the pool, usually blue. John |

I like clear for OWS whenever possible but sometimes I need some tint for the sun hanging right on the horizon on race mornings, or on the other horizon for late afternoon OW training swims. I've never tried blue tint and will now avoid them thanks to the info about muted colors. I always wear clear for indoor pool and have various tinted pairs for outdoor pools and/or OWS training. |
