I love this! They're using remote controlled Mini-Coopers to help retrieve the shot puts, discuses, javelins and hammers and return them to the athletes after the throwing events.

Who gets to drive them? That has to be the coolest volunteer job at the games.

LOL -- I noticed them on the infield while watching track and field coverage last night. I thought I was going crazy!! So cool (I haven't read the article yet).

Several weeks ago I was watching the European championships and kept noticing these remote control cars fly across the field during the javelin. I was like... How cute, wonder what they are for. After paying closer attention to the cars than the athletes I finally noticed they would fly out to the field, the person threw the javelin and in a few seconds I'd see the car fly back to the line. It finally dawned on me that they were using them to return the javelin to the athlete. Awesome. I want that job.

I haven't been watching much of the field events at the Olympics so haven't noticed them. Very cool. I'll have to watch the coverage tonight and see if I see them.

I wonder if I could train my Mini to fetch? That is just so cool. They are great little cars, I have a convertible and bike hitch, and people comment on it a lot.
