It's live.  Free for all members.  A BIG applause for Marmadaddy - he did ALL the heavy-lifting.

Create routes and elevation profiles of single sport workouts, bricks and races!

See Full Screenshot

You can access it 2 ways:

  1. Via the   in your training 'blog-view' next to the minicalendar.
  2. In the logging screen with the 'Add New Route' button and upon creating/saving a route, it will auto-update the logging page.

Other Features:

  • You can save public and private routes. Currently the only way to access other members public routes is to click on a route in their log and then 'View Public Routes' link.
  • At this time you CAN'T re-edit an already saved route.
  • You can also upload GPX files to create routes.
  • Your routes will be saved as 'swim, bike, run, brick (if you log two or more sports) and 'race route' if you tag it as a race when saving it.  Depending on the designation, it will be in the appropriate dropdown in the logging screen to select for a workout.

The interface 'should' be intuitive enough, but will work on a FAQ sheet/instructions later.

See Marmadaddy's short discourse on EFFECTIVE route mapping. (Make sure you are mapping your hills)

BUGS?  ERRORS?  PLEASE REFER TO:

General route mapping/logging errors

GPX file/GPS uploading errors

*NOTE, the USGS elevation database DOES go out from time to time, hence you should get a warning that the elevation service is offline in the graph spot.  It's OK, save the route, a future enhancement is when you log back on when the elevation dbase if back online, your routes elevation data will auto-update.

This is just our basic release to get the bugs out, per your input and how we see it being used, there are a TON of cool features we can add-on to it later this year.

ron, you guys are great.  thanks marmadaddy!  (now can i be really really greedy and ask for mutiple event days in the log and a track interval do-dad like the one we have for weight training?)

Bigtime thanks!  Can't wait to go home and play with this.  I'll have to see how the Garmin stuff saves and transfers. (Edit: Must learn to read all links and posts before typing.    Thanks for checking on this stuff everyone.)

THANKS RON AND MIKE!

Hey that Marmadaddy guy isn't half bad after all   Great work guys.  I've used other mapping functions like this, but it's really nice to have it within BT so I can include specific routes in my logs.  You guys think of EVERYTHING!!!

awesome feature!

Stupid question....  How do the 'go home' and 'loop' features work?  I can't seem to get them to un-grey.

Also, one thing I'm hoping you guys might be able to implement that I have been wanting to see in a mapping program like this:

It would be nice that if you could auto segment lines.  Say for instance, make .1 miles the longest segment you can draw.  If you have a long straight road that is 1 mile long, and you draw a single line segment 1 mile long, it will automatically break it into 10 peices.  I find that long chunky lines tend to miss a lot of hills in the elevation plots.  Something like this would make elevation accuracy better and mapping easier.

I find that long chunky lines tend to miss a lot of hills in the elevation plots. Something like this would make elevation accuracy better and mapping easier.

Loop and Go Home:

Imagine that you ride a route in the shape of the letter P starting at the bottom. When you return to the point where the loop closes (point X below), click on that point. The Loop and Go Home buttons will become active. Click on Loop to make a right turn and go around the loop again. Click on Go Home to make a left turn and return to the starting point.

As to the automatic segmentation: I think we're better off relying on the person creating the route using their knowledge of the area and clicking more often in the areas where there are more elevation changes rather than breaking it up every n feet. It's only a couple minutes of time invested and you get a more accurate representation of the route.

OK, so two things that you guys did that no one else is doing very well is proper elevation mapping and climb tracking. (Very Nicely done)

I really like the fact that you separated the routes by discipline and also provided the ability to map a race

Three Cheers for Marma and Ron for an excellent new BT Feature

Outstanding work on your new addition. I created a few loops that I perform, and when you look at the elevation profile, it goes in negative elevations.

I start at a certain altitude, then go downhill which is way lower than the starting point, go up and back down the mountain and back up. This reflects both positive and negative elevations.

Is there a way to fix that? Thanks.
