Yep, excited to get back to coverage.

Saw Lance was heading up Astana for this one and Cavendish will be there for Columbia.

Don't forget; The Tour of Spain (Vuelta a Espana) starts up on Aug 29 and goes 21 days.

It's the 3rd of the three grand tours in Europe.

As a bonus, it's going to be broadcast on Universal Sports for "free" just like the Giro d'Italia was.

I got to watch today's stage on Versus. It was condensed into an hour of coverage (about half of which was commercials) but it was good. Those roads were VERY narrow in spots. Also, Cavendish's sprint to the line was very impressive. The finish tomorrow should be very fun to watch.

Weather here has been terrible for the TOI - I was cycling in it yesterday and the wind was very high. Bad rain today and forced a lot of riders to retire from the race for safe reasons. We seem to have to cycle in wind and rain the entire year around here in Ireland !!!

Can see local coverage here http://www.rte.ie/sport/other/features/tourofireland_2009.html

Coverage is iffy but the countryside is gorgeous.  Spent a couple weeks driving down around the bottom of the country  10 years ago (has it been that long????)   Really makes me want to go back

grr, we dont' get the HD version of VS because I refuse to pay Verizon for extra HD channels when I allready pay them for HD cable but I stupidly set the DVR to record the HD channel not the regular one so I have 3-4 hrs of "Please call  whatever number to order VS High Def"....
