Subject: American Tobacco Trail
I'm in the RDU area for a week on a business trip.  I was looking for a good place to run (besides the hotel treadmill).  And found the ATT.

Y'all should thank your congressmen, senators or whoever it was that got that funded.  It was great!  All of the running trails near my home are concrete with no shade. 

I do find it ironic that a nice multi-use trail has ties with tobacco.  I understand it but find it funny.

nice..i've run 13 miles there and biked near 37 along side it....its def a sweet trail

We are very fortunate here.  We not only have the ATT if we want to run a flat course but we have Umstead Park if we want to run hills.  The Tobacco Trail is nice but my heart belongs in Umstead.

I live across from umstead...its a feat on a bike ...on the feet would be a real..uhhh feat...

Agree 100%.  I like running the ATT (3 miles from here), but I lost my marathon virginity in Umstead.  It'll always be a special place for me!

It is a great trail and will one day be part of the Maine-Florida trail.

As a general opponent of earmarks, I have to admit this one is something I'm willing to let slide. It is one of the few that Rep. Price went after for funding. Jon Stewart actually mocked the earmark, but only because of the name.
