Elite  3972      Reno |  Subject: Anti-mining protest on videoA friend of mine found this video on Facebook, posted by a woman who is part of this anti-mining group. My friend is the one in pink, so she was happy to send it to the police just a few days before the court date of the thief. The video is only 6 minutes long, but the incident went on for over an hour.The language on the video is NOT work safe. Certainly erodes the credibility of what one has to say. http://www.maciverinstitute.com/2013/07/protesters-verbally-assault... this incident, the mining company hired armed guards to protect their employees and equipment. I believe my mining friends were heroic in keeping their cool. I wonder if I would have. Would you? |

Here is, in itself, funny....- they spend a large amount of time filming the environmental protection measures, thinking they are getting "good stuff" against the drilling activity, but really just showing how diligent the operation is.- The taunting of my gal in pink over the loss of her camera and phone, saying to just go to Walmart for a new one, while using similar equipment to film it themselves- one of 'their own' posted the video! She cannot understand HOW the protesters are seen in a poor light here- The question of "who is more like Ghandi- mining professionals or environmentalists?" - telling a bunch of people with high visability vests on that they are sneaking onto the land, while they were camo and face coverings - here is the funny thing for me - I (ME!?) was called a right winger for sharing the footage!- One of them, at least, might get the chance to contemplate how iron mining enhances their life style while behind bars!If anyone can PM me to tell me why I can't get my paragraphs in from,y iPad, I sure would appreciate it. A lot of my family are in the mining industry. this is circulating through Northern Ontario now throughout the mining community. A lot of colourful comments from friends up north!  They can't believe what they are seeing....wow! |

Funny how it ripped through the mining communities and the web in general - it was posted on Facebook one afternoon, my friend say it that day and shared it (with authorities) and Facebook that evening, her friends shared it, and by noon the next day it was on YouTube with news and news blogs talking about it. The original poster didn't know how it was used until that evening when she took it off. By then, it was out there. in Nevada, I know it has been used as the topic of safety talks on exploration projects. The reaction in Nevada is pretty strong towards the "if that happened here, someone would have been shot". I have done exploratory drilling under the watch of armed guards in S America. It is unnerving. I never thought it would be required in the US. |

Not trying to imply that there isn't a place and time for it, but verbally assaulting people is ridiculous. |
