Good morning BT!

4:30am:  :60 min run

5:30am:  :40 min lower body strength + core

I am so hoping this is the last day of grey, windy, and cold days here in the desert. It is seriously bumming me out! I need to see some blue sky and sun soon!  I also haven't been able to swim this week at all due to so much stuff going on--my first chance will be Friday afternoon--hopefully it'll be nice and warm by then!

Have a great day!  We're half way to a long weekend! (if you get Memorial Day off!)

Good night! (I might make it another hour--not sure. Rigor mortis usually sets in shortly after workout and pasta!)

AM (about 5:30): Easy 42 minute run. It was "cool"--78. Surprised the Vietnamese weather service has not issued a cold weather warning!
PM: 1 hour trainer ride with lovely FTP intervals. Lets just say that after yesterday's big gear work, my butt is sore!

Really prefer to get the hard stuff done early AM but rainy season is here in force now and it's just too likely a PM run will get rained out. I can only swim after work, so every workout becomes a bit like Russian Roulette as the guards close the pool for 25 minutes after any thunder or lightning. (Can I do SOME of the workout? ALL of the workout? NONE of the workout?)

Good Morning

Heading out shortly for a ride. Been wiped out since that Century, but feeling good this morning. Finally!!
Hopefully it's a good ride.

Also, I'm getting my bike ordered today, so i'm totally excited.

Sweet! Is that a custom paint job? I've thought of doing something to show my nationality when I go to Worlds but not sure it would be clothes or bike. Then again, maybe I shouldn't be obviously representing my country if I'm going to be BOP with all those speedy people.

6:35AM - 1400 easy swim, technique focused. Rest week has been really nice so far.

Coach tells me next three weeks are going to be HARD. He also recommended I either do my workouts really early or really late so that the heat doesn't combine with the intensity to kill me. So, maybe I'll be joining the pre-5am club a lot sooner than later.

Have a great day!

it's not custom, but limited edition. I am not fond of the red or green model, so I opted for colors that do represent USA and has white an blue in it

Not sure what your previous experience is with training late in the day but in general, intense workout plus heat late in the day can make it really hard to get to sleep. Your core temp goes up and stays up for a long time, and hard workouts tend to arouse the nervous system and make it even harder to get to sleep. You really need to pay attention to "cool down", in terms of intensity, temperature, and even mental stimulation. I also find I'm a lot more likely to be sore the next morning after a hard run or bike late in the day, probably because instead of "walking it off" (I have a pretty active job; most days there's not much sitting and definitely no lying down) like I would for a morning workout, I'm mostly loafing on the couch or sleeping, and my muscles tighten up.

Made it 25 miles this morning on my ride. Not to bad. I could still tell that Century was still effecting me a little. Great coastal weather though with a slight breeze made it crisp and clean air.

I got to try out my new LG soft shell I got on clearance. 30% off

I'm on the other side of the college-student desk. I'm the one with the red pen in my hand. Those of us with schedules that change from day to day actually have an advantage, I think.
