Subject: Fun words to know and use

So I'm reading "Shakespeare: The Invention of the Human" written by a Shakespearean scholar, professor and literary critic. He uses such cool words!!!! (yeah yeah insert disclaimer about being a nerd here). I am expanding my vocabulary.

Termagant - nagging woman, shrew

Scroyle - mean fellow, wretch

Agon - conflict, esp. between chief characters in a literary work

What new words have YOU learned today? I miss School House Rock...

there is absolutley nothing Shakespearean about this at all, and some of you might know it or use it, but:

JAWN

means anything:
"Put that jawn on that jawn over there." (put that box on the table over there)
"Hand me that jawn." (hand me that remote)
"She a bad jawn." (She's hot)
"These jawns is mine." (These burgers I made are mine.)

It's a perfectly cromulent word.

Da Kine-means literally "the thing" in Hawai'i.....can be also used for any other word that one does not know

I remember Douglas Adams brought out a book called The meaning of Liff which used Town names to describe things that didn't have words but should. The only one I can remember now is Grimsby - A rubbery bit that you get in meat.

If you want a genuine one then how about pluke - Alternate word for an acne spot. I remember watching call my bluff and barely recognising the word from the description given.
