Ditto. If I'm crazy enough to do a full, that is.

Was planning to do IMFL next year as my first iron distance, but this is just too close to home to pass up! I'm gonna do it!

Crap! I thought I was done with IMs....now they go and put one in my backyard!? That bat rastards......

I've done the Chattanooga Waterfront Oly twice before....it's an awesome race. The TN is great! Depending on the bike course, it could be hilly to very hilly.

This is also a great city to visit. The famous Chattanooga Choo-choo is at the old historic depot that has been converted into a Holiday Inn. You can actually sleep in train sleeper cars....or they have regular rooms too. We've stayed in both. Downtown they have the largest freshwater aquarium in the US, an IMax Theater, Trolly ride, etc. Very touristy.

Oct 10th the water should be in the 70s so great swimming temp w/o a wetsuit. The current varies and is controllable via the TVA dams.

Darn, I just don't know if I want to jump into an IM again....maybe I'll just volunteer.

It says total of 2100ft of climbling on the bike course. Isn't that significantly less than Lake Placid?

Just booked my rooms before the rates go up. $99 a night at the Sheraton Read House! May not do the race but I will probably go spectate if I don't.

I must have been on twitter as it was annouced, because it showed up in my feed like 4 seconds after it was posted...i'm planning on it - TN is like a 3 hour drive for me which is nothing in the grand scheme of things...

I have the registration day marked on my calendar already

IMChooChoo works for me...cause we are like the Little Engines That Could

Says the swim is gonna be a loop....so part of that will have to be up-rive and part down-river. Maybe they will do it like IMKY and start in an estuary for the up-river.

that's also using mapmyride. so increase by a factor of 3 and you will be a little closer.

The 2100 ft is what is listed on the IM Chattanooga bike course description, not mapmyride.

I was really hoping for Hilton Head, but this one is still the closest, so I'm in for next year.

I'm relieved it is not on the Waterfront bike course. That would be rough. Survived it twice, but don't think I could do it stretched out for 112.

I'm from the Chattanooga and a part of the Chatt Tri Club and this is the best news I could ever wish to hear.

For the people concerned, Chattanooga can be hilly but doesn't have to be, it all depends on the course they choose. The Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon (Olympic) is only a slightly hilly course and then you have the 3 State 3 Mountain 100 Mile bike race that is very steep. The description says the bike will go into Georgia and be a double loop so I don't see any major hills (these might seem major to a Floridian though).

Wouldn't be surprised if people find it to be more like 3,000, but still sounds like they're generally avoiding substantial climbs. Could go over several times that if they wanted.
