Subject: any good tricks for training with giant blisters?
I'd really like to run tomorrow, but I can't bear the thought of sliding my feet into shoes.  Does anyone have any good ways for training with blisters?
Thanks

suck itu p and do it.

try rowing for a few months, it will make your feet stop hurting just thinking about it;-)

on a more serious note. keep the shoes/socks off as much as you can to let the blisters dry out.

There are people here who don't like this but it's worked for me for about 20 years and has worked for buddies of mine as well for at least that long.

Pop the blister and fill the hollow up with a little bit of either neosporin or a single antibiotic cream with lidocain.
Go to the drug store and look for blister bandaids. Yes, those are a special type and they won't come off easily, let them wear off after a couple days.

guess no one else was a boy scout.. mole skin.. sort of like the blister bandaids only its in sheets you cut it out how you need it to fit around your blister.

I was a boy scout, but I'm also a stubborn hard azz as well.

I pop them and either tear the skin off if it is small or let it air out and get dry and tough, then rip it off later if it is bigger.

x2 but I'll add that after a day of airing out out, I put about three layers of New Skin on in it and reapply until the skin is healed back over.

One popped all by itself during the race and the other had the skin torn off by one of those special blister bandaids (I didn't realize they stick to the boo-boo part) - so I really like the second skin idea - I think I'll try that in a couple days, maybe along with some moleskin.  These blisters are ginormous so I can't really wait for them to heal over before running.
Thanks again, all!Undecided

I was plagued by some giant blisters all summer (even blisters on top of blisters), but they never slowed me down or limited the amount of running because I have found this method to work:

I would pop the blister with a needle and drain it and wash the area well. Let it dry and leave the dead skin on top of the blister. Before every run I would slap a piece of moleskin that was about 1.5x's larger than the blister directly onto the blister. Then I would go nuts with cotton-type-material-athletic tape and tape all around the moleskin, with 50% of the tape on the moleskin and the other 50% on the skin. *VERY IMPORTANT* I would walk around for 5-10 minutes with socks and shoes on to "break in" the dressings so that it adheared to my skin properly before I ran. Worked every time. Good luck!
