I have had to stop training and started construction on my Ark so I can get to work.  Seriously though pardon my ignorance of the River and how rain affects it.  It appears all this rain while not hitting Augusta to bad it does seem to be traveling north and hitting that area with a lot more to come.  Do heavy rains usually mess up the river or does the river seem to clear pretty well from rains upstream?

With rain= colder water temp + more floating debris (like twigs, weeds etc). The one bonus of rain is the stronger current, so that's a plus

Also I forgot to mention that with a lot of rain the visibility gets a little worse.  The river can tend to be a little muddy- but that's usually due to HEAVY rain and a lot of runoff.  Lately we've been getting rain, but it's been more of a lighter rain.  So the river visbility may not be too bad for the race weekend- unless of course we get a torrential downpour between now and then.

Understood it didn't look as though you guys had really gotten rain like some have, however I was worried because a lot of this is continuing northest and so it will eventually make it back down the river and sometime that can take a few of days.  However Atlanta TV is saying we are stuck in the rain until Sunday so maybe the weather will break for the race.

I hope it stays clear come race day.  The trend lately seems to be the rain doesn't come in until late afternoon/early evening.  I think the lake is low enough that they don't need to release any extra water but I don't work for the Army Corps of Engineers so I could be wrong.  Maybe the city will be in communication with the Corp and they will elect not to release any extra water until after the race.

I actually want them to release some water because that means we'll have a stronger current

This morning the water was still clear...probably 6 feet of visibility. Not too much in the way of debris either.

Those words are nice...but I prefer "Finish" and "Line."
