I have a small pool at my house. Its about 10-11 yards long. Is it possible to do effective swim training in a pool this short? I'm training for a sprint triathlons. Thanks in advance.

You can, however, you'll drive yourself batty. If you do, don't push off your turn, cause you can pretty much go end to end with a push in your case. You might want to look into converting your pool to an endless pool.....

That depends....how tall are you???
If you are a leprechaun, fairy, brownie, sprite of wee person it might be OK. Otherwise I think you are not going to obtain any sort of rhythm. You're also going to get flipturnitis.

How well does a resistance belt really work?
Are they worth their money or are they just another gadget?

Sure, check out this month's Triathlete magazine. There was an article in there about some pro who did exactly what you're asking. I don't think it was the Peter Reid article, but I remember it was someone who got ready for a full IM in a 12 yard pool.

So yes.

When the lap pool is full I'll swim in the family pool becuase they set up lane lines there.  (The water is warmer too ).  It's only about 2/3 the length of a 25m pool and after a while my achilles on one foot begins to get sore.  I must be pushing off with that foot more than the other.  Then I have to concentrate on not using that leg so much.  It's a pain in the .....heel.

i went to my parents local pool one time whilst my sister did aquaerobics (yes i did take the mickey!) and could only do widths...so i did lots and lots of interval training and kick sets.

There is a reason the water is warmer..."Family Pool"

I tried the whole training in the backyard pool, I think I got 200 meters in in about an hour and a half.

I just joined a gym, and there are 3 lanes (indoor pool) and every time I get there, I am the only one.   SWEET!  My own personal pool for only 24.99/month.  I was paying $2.00/swim at the Recreational center anyways.
