Good morning!

4:45am:  :30 minute run with incline repeats

5:15am:  full body strength + stretching

JWhite...congrats on bettering your time!  I was wondering how you did!

Karen...yup, Race to Robie starts down at Fort Boise near downtown Boise.  It's such a cool race, I'm so glad I went back and did it again!

Have a great day all!

Will have to do it next year if we are still there. I'm taking a year off of teaching so I can race to my heart's content, assuming I can stay healthy. That will be a big change. My racing is seriously limited by working in Vietnam and very limited personal leave days here. Let me know if your travels or races send you to Boise again--we have plenty of room, assuming you don't mind a few cats running around.

5:10 AM--1:10 trainer ride, mostly Z2 with some high-cadence spin-ups
5:20 PM: easy 40-minute run

Hoping (almost afraid to say it, given my record with races lately) to do IM Vietnam 70.3 on May 13. That will be my last race in Asia....for a while. I signed up for Ironman Malaysia in November. Yes, I know I won't be living in Asia then. But figured by November Mom and I will be ready for a race-cation. And of all the IM races I looked at, it seemed to have the least chance of cold water/weather. I just can't stand the thought of being cold for 12+ hours.

Yesterday I decided to tackle a tree that needed to come down on my property. It is very close to my house and my neighbor's garage, so it has to be taken down in pieces. So three hours or so hours later of climbing , chainsawing, and pole sawing, I have it nearly ready to fell.

After playing lumberjack, I went to my Masters swim practice. I think this is the first practice that I quit. I started falling behind, and by the last rep of the last set (4 x 300), I just felt that the bad technique I was surely doing wasn't worth the effort and pain I was putting in. It wasn't all for naught; I still got in 2400 yards in a bit less than an hour.

Today is more tree chopping if the weather holds out. And then the cutting it up into moveable pieces begins. If I have anything left tonight, I've got my weekly spin class. It won't be long and I'll be ditching that for actual saddle time on the bike trails. I hope our new instructor doesn't take it personal.

Lumberjacking is brutal! I remember I had to sit out a few practices after taking down a shed on my parents' old property with a crowbar, axe, and saw. It was certainly an upper-body workout!

Good morning.

5:40 - 85' on the trainer, with 2 x cadence progression at same gear, culminating in 2 x 8' at 115% FTP. Tough!

Have a great day!

Hey BT kids,Met up with some friends for a 3 mile trail run and forgot my shoes so I ran in my socks. Not too easy when it’s a rocky trail!

Yikes! Can't imagine doing a trail run in socks. But when I was in HS, my fastest 3000m (first time under 10 minutes) was in socks. Racing flats got soaking wet in a downpour, and couldn't stand the thought of running in them. I remember my dad commented, "You'd better get ahead quick, and stay ahead. Either that or be dead last." Or get sliced and diced by everyone else's track spikes, was the implication. Did the former.
