Expert  989    Broomfield, CO |  Subject: Ironman Boulder : Official ThreadHello and welcome to the Ironman Boulder 2014 thread. Having just finished IMCDA a few days ago I'm jacked up about IMBDR. I live outside of Boulder but I work there. I run and ride on many of the parts of the now official Ironman course. I can't wait to get started with my training after a much need vacation to Grand Teton and Yellowstone. Of course I do have some things planned between now and August '14 i.e. Rim-2-Rim-2-Rim, Longs Peak, Eldora XTERRA and lots of mountain biking but I'm in for IMBDR Who's with me? |

Peak isn't great timing - 3 weeks before the IM. That's when I should be spending 7 hours on my bike. That, and I hate Olde Stage Road. But I'll be in for the 70.3. |

They should charge a million dollars for IMCDA, every part of that race is amazing and beautiful. What was the price for IMNY? Jennifer didn't you do IMTX in '12? I recognize you profile picture from the IMTX threads, I was at IMTX in '12. NY was something like $900 the first year. So, yeah, the prices CAN vary...but NY was sort of an outlier. I just wouldn't be surprised if Boulder was "more expensive". Not saying it will be...but it could be. It will be interesting to see! I did not do IMTX in '12....I dunno..maybe I posted in the IMTX forum since I live there? |

I thought they would have added a little more elevation to the race and kept it closer to the mountains. Do you think people will be disappointed with the lack of elevation gain/scenery on the bike or happy that it might be a little easier? I'm guessing it will sell out in under 15 minutes but I hope I am wrong. I would love this race to be the one I do in 2014. |

I think it would be fun, but there is a reason St. George doesn't exist anymore.... The 70.3 has always been very flat so this isn't much of a departure. Only the Peak had any real elevation gain and that was one notorious hill.... But what would have been REALLY cool was incorporating the climb to Ward. That would have ROCKED! I think this will sell out lightning fast. All those Boulder Triathletes can't help but want to sleep in their own beds the night before the race. I did that for IMFL and it's AWESOME....best feeling in the world. Did I read correctly that T1 and T2 will be in different locations? Ugh, logistics....this will have to involve shuttles. Roads are really nice out there - there's some natural gas plants or gathering stations that get some heavy industrial traffic, so they keep the roads in good shape. Of course, I always went north on those roads, not south. Wind could be a bugger. |

I have done a mass start and the new rolling start and I have to say the new start is great. I think the rolling start with one loop would actually work pretty good. And I wouldn't have the opportunity to kick someone's heel between loops on the beach and break a toe like I did this year at CDA.  |

I'm also surprised that it is still open. When I was thinking about how quick it would fill up I didn't take into account that it was in its inaugural year. The races that sell out so fast have already had thousands of athletes sign up on site. Either way, I'm in. This will be Ironman #5 or #6 depending on if I sign up for one more in late August. |

I don't see how it will compete with CDA from that standpoint. I was literally signing up for IM TX and had a last second change of mind....... now I'm stoked.
