For those who use this saddle, which one would you recommend? They list a tri specific one but what are the differences?

I ride the "Race" Adamo, which is supposed to be the one recommended for triathlon.  So far I like it a lot.  It takes a while to get it dialed in.

The difference between the Race and the Road is supposed to be the level of gel padding in the sit bone area of the saddle.  The gel is moved forward on the Race, therefor making it softer for triathletes who ride forward.

Check out their web site.  They give an explanation.

If I were to get one for my road bike and tri bike do you think I should get the same style for both?

It's a little more expensive, but take a look at the Selle SMP. A broad line of better looking saddles that do the same thing the Adamo does. I have one and it works great.

You probably can't tell the difference by looking at them.  There is only a little more padding I think in the road and it actually says road on it.

My LBS had a demo racing seat that I tried out for a couple long rides before I purchased one. I can say is that the racing seat is not all that comfy when sitting up road bike style but is a dream when riding down in the aerobars (I have a tri bike).  It took me about 10 seconds to get use to it!

Thanks guys. These are the kind of answers I was looking for. My main concern was that the nose portion would be too wide.

I have it on my TRI bike not my road, so I can only speak to that. After talking with some other owners, I put one on and did a very short trainer ride. My first "real" ride on it was 100mi... and I had zero issues. It took no time to get used to. You may have to make some minor adjustments, but that is about it.

Quit thinking of the 'noses' on the Adamo as the same as the nose on a regular saddle. The Adamo noses are not supposed to fit between your legs, but rather, support your sit bones; you should be sitting forward on it enough that there is no saddle between your thighs.

I've heard of a few people that have had an issue with the width of the nose. One solution is to pull it together closer with a ziptie or two on the rails.

I have the race and love it, no issues with the width.

The "nose" of an adamo saddle is about 2 inches shorter than a standard saddle.  The junk will happily be uncrushed because it will not be touched.

The nose of the saddle is basically where you'll ride....on the sit bones

I use the road on my tri-bike, and the race on my road bike.....Its backwards, but best for me.

The two models are identical in dimensions, with the only diffrence being the amount and location of gel/padding. The Race model is designed to be used in an aero position, with a little less gel/padding that is located more up front, while the Road model has more padding further back for stting in more of an upright position.

Adamo Race owners - I NEED YOUR HELP.

Did any of you experience 'Novocain package syndrome' with other saddles before buying the Adamo Race Saddle ? I just tried by 2nd saddle and my package or should I say the area just behind my package is going numb.

So the question I ask - Has this Saddle helped anyone in my situation ?

I got the road saddle, and it's been great.  The purchase was necessitated by numbness in places that should never be numb, and the Adamo was an instant relief to that whole sordid situation.

x2 about the increased comfort in aero.

Thanks Monk

I was looking for feedback such as yours and from livestrong. I wanted to make sure riders got "relief" from this saddle. My fear is people bought this saddle because they wanted to prevent the "numbness in places that should never be numb". It's good to hear the echo that you switched to this saddle after you have experienced the 'Novocain package syndrome'.

What a weird feeling when the area below the package comes numb - WOW.

I would go numb after only 30 minutes in the saddle and some days I felt like the full sensation was taking up to 24 hrs to return - not pleasant. I made sure I had put sufficient time in the saddle and made small adjustments to my original saddle before finally trying the Adamo and the relief was INSTANT. Mind you, taking pressure off the perineum (package, 'taint, fleshy-fun-bridge, etc) will displace it to other areas i.e. your sit bones, so expect to have more pressure there (pressure, not numbness) until you get your rear accustomed to the new riding position, then once you're nice and calloused-up, there's no discomfort whatsoever.

Thanks Master !

That would make it x3. I believe I'm taking a ride to pick-up the new saddle.

I wonder if any pro's or FOPers use this saddle ?

Interestingly enough, there are several sponsored female pro triathletes: Hillary Biscay, Laura Bennet, Bella Comerford, Olympic hopeful Sarah Haskins, and David Blanco, who I believe is a pro cyclist. I believe there are a few other unsponsored pros as well; Slowtwitch had a thread about the list.
