In contrast to the other thread:

X-Files. One of my favorite shows ever. Until about season 7. Seasons 8 and 9 were pretty crappy. Robert Patrick was pretty awesome and I liked him teamed up with Scully, but then they added that other chick and they ran out of plots and Mulder was gone and Scully had their magical love-baby and it just all sucked.

Supercarrier.  Sank fast after the Navy saw how stupid it was and pulled all their support.  Kind of hard to do a show about aircraft carriers if you don't have any.

The Shield.

I'm still going to watch this season though. Have to see what happens. But last season was a disappointment.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Season six was just not up to the standards of the first five, and Season seven was mostly bad.

Sesame Street... I used to be a religious viewer of that show, but man, when they introduced Elmo, that show jumped the shark big time.

I'm with you 100%. It is on, however, as my wife forces me to watch it with her. It should have been a 6 episode mini-series. I was done with it at that point.

I think you are the only other person I know of (other then my wife) who agrees with me on this one!   Went from being the funniest things on TV to just awful.  One night wifey and I were sitting there watching, turned to each other and said "why do we still watch this?" CLICK.  And it takes ALOT for that to happen! ;-)

You're too kind.  Seasons 8 and 9 were abysmal, with the exception of maybe 2 episodes.  It's one thing for Mulder to come back to life after being dead for three hours, or even three days.  But three months, that's just more than I can handle.  Of course we're getting another movie now.  Perhaps there should be a thread for "Movies You Believed That They Would Never Get Around to Making" or "Sequels You Had Given Up On Seven Years After the Show Went Off the Air"

I loved the first several seasons (through 6, I think). After that I pretty much lost interest and stopped watching. I don't think I've seen anything from seasons 8 and 9, and it sounds like I'm not missing much.

The British version of Coupling was great until season 4. They tried to replace an irreplaceable character (Jeff) and the show really suffered.

Ha ha, I could probably come up with a hundred but jumptheshark.com beat me to it.

For me it would be E.R.

I actually saw it on stage in Chicago a year or so before it became a tv show. I was surprised that they made a show out of it because the first half was great but after the intermission it just dragged on and on. Least amount of applause I *ever* heard after a performance so I wasn't the only one bored.

Anyway, when I saw they made a tv series out of it I watched for a season or two (it was one of my sister's favorite shows). It did nothing for me so I quit watching.

Every once in a while I'd see a commercial and think, "that's still on?". A couple of years ago I swear they had "series finale" commercials for it but it popped up again.

It's the show that won't die! Laughing

Don't get even me started on Law and Order and all it's spin-offs. Cool

Ooo, let's add another, Saturday Night Live.  The first group was classic tv.  The second group was pretty good.  Everything after that is a waste of space.

"Moonlighting"

When the main writer quit, it went from classic to cr*p overnight. That's why writers not actors should make the big bucks.

Also, and I hate to admit my wife made me watch this show...

"The Gilmore Girls" -- Same deal, lost the writers.
