I think a group of fun people at setup sat down and dreamed up an IDEAL tri-race wknd and related activities. This is IT! Who's In? This sounds like so much fun. Dear Dana NO MEN ALLOWED - This is a women's only race. This event is back for 2008 with new race distances to encourage beginning triathletes. The Dash for Divas Sprint Triathlon takes place on the same fantastic course that has made White Lake famous in the triathlon community. Wonderful lake (crystal clear, sand bottom, 9 feet deep in the middle) Flat fast bike course - 1 loop around the lake - only two right hands turns Flat fast run course - out and back. CLUB WARS TRIATHLON (September 7, 2008): Intermediate Distance: 1000 meter swim  21 mile bike 5 mile run The first of its kind in this area. An excellent opportunity for area Tri Clubs or Groups (i.e., city teams, coaching clubs, Team in Training groups, etc.) to showcase their talents. This event promises to be quite an experience. All Tri Clubs are invited and encouraged to attend. Although this event provides an opportunity for clubs to compete with each other, it is not limited to clubs or club members. Individual athletes and other relays are welcome and encouraged to participate. Current list of clubs registered: Participants are encouraged to come down Saturday and compete in the Dash for Divas race, enjoy the luau Saturday night, and stay to race or cheer on participants in the Club Wars Triathlon on Sunday. A great way to spend a weekend!
The location is perfect for such an event, as the North Carolina FFA Center allows teams to campout together at the race site and enjoy the triathlete community. There will also be a luau on Saturday night at 6pm, which will give teams a chance to hang out and socialize with other Tri Clubs. Music will be provided at the Luau. Come join the fun and help promote comraderie among triathletes and Tri Clubs. The 2007 Ironman World Championships will be shown on a big screen at the luau for all participants to enjoy. I won't be racing that weekend but the White Lake site is a perfect place for this kind of weekend. The lake is shallow and clear, bottom is only about 9ft or so at the deepest. The camping area is not even 100 yards from the swim start and less than that from transition. Just be aware that the cabins are essentially 4 screen walls with a roof and a door, bunkbeds included. Nothing wrong with that, just don't want anyone picturing a mountain lodge. Set Up events are always well run. |

Dash 4 Diva's will be my first tri, also!!! :D I haven't quite figured out where I am staying yet, but probably camping. My mom and sister are coming for support. I'm not sure what the race distances were for last years sprint so its really hard to judge how well I am doing in preparation for the event. I am totally nervous too! This really sounded like the ideal race for a beginner... and i hope to do an olympic length event sometime this season as well... I think I can handle it. I"d also really like to plan a bike trip from north carolina to florida just for funsies.. but that'll be dependent on whether or not I can find a buddy to go with me. Anyways. I am allowed back on the stationary bike and walking on the treadmill. No running yet. He said If I follow the rules I will be ready for next season. Michele |
