For those of you who would like to participate in a 700 mile challenge please post and join us...

Share any fun rides or events you have planned to make 700 miles.

This would be my most riding I've done in a month...lots of 550-650 mile months...

From the other thread this is who I see participating...

KathyG
Shermbelle
ChrisM
Ronin..not sure if you are in for 700 miles in August or double your pleasure...

I am in.

As for my plan and the sharing part:

I think in kms so 700 m is 1155 kms. That is 37 kms a day, damn.

My commute is 52 k round trip. Do that 2 or 3 times a week so aim for 10 times in August or 520kms.

That leaves a remainder of 635 kms. 5 Saturdays in August makes 127 km per Saturday. But August 2 I have a big ride planned, hopefully 200 kms so that leaves 435 in 4 saturdays or 108 km.

Not sure if any of that qualifies as a "fun ride" I have planned.

Yeah, no matter how you break it down it is a lot. Like I said in the other thread, it will be a serious challenge for me.

To get my 700 (hopefully) I have Steelhead this weekend and then just a ton of riding along with a nice century up to some friends cottage for Labor Day to finish off the month.

I am in to shoot for 700,  that will be a good 150 further than any previous high, and 30 more than July.   dayum, but it's kickoff for IMAZ.  August will be a bike/run focused month

I plan to ride lots

Only bump in the road is an almost HIM distance 8-23

Yah..at Lake Placid the 10K descent normally I go 50-55 mph in the rain, it hurt and my eyes would shut as it was impossible to keep them over...brakes on carbon rims..tough.But overall other than having to clean my bike and if it is over 50 riding in the rain reminds me of being a kid..fun stuff!

My cycling is a little lower volume than I had hoped as my fatigue from Ironman Lake Placid is lingering more than I had hoped. I need to listen to my body and not push to much.Today's ride felt good..we'll see how I feel tomorrow if I can fit a short ride.Happy riding everyone

Added 5 k to my ride home today. If I do that each of the next 7 rides left in the month that is 35k less I have to do on a long ride. You see how I am thinking?!?!?!?!?

Well if we are checking in, I am done riding for this week, I so wanted to ride three times to work (I can only really ride mon-wed) but yesterday was 4 in a row and I felt this saddle sore and my legs and (whine whine whine whine) I just couldn't get up this morning, turns out a good thing I didnt ride because I need my car for work today....WHATEVER.

Anyways, halfway check in since I am camping this weekend and not riding again until next monday.

354.85 Miles almost 23 hours. So I think it is doable, although difficult. My new net commute is 35.84 miles so I will have to ride three times the next two weeks for 215.04 miles leaving 65 miles on each of the last two saturdays with the 31st as my failsafe.

Good luck everyone.

You guys are doing great. I'm at 245 miles and hope to ride long tomorrow.Between recovering from IM, visiting with my family on this island making riding hard to do as I need ride to mainland and someone to be with my kids, I haven't ridden as much as I have intended.Enjoy your rides!
