Phil's going to be a busy boy.  Thank you so much to all of you volunteering.  For those who don't know me I'll be the big guy wearing a tritop with a Divine Swine Catering written on the front and back.  The main giveaway is the big smiling pig wearing a crown.  Gotta figure I'll be the only one wearing that get-up.  Please say hi so I can properly thank all the great BT volunteers.

Good luck!  I know that you won't be wiping that HUGE SMILE off of your face the whole time during this race, and it will twice the size when you approach the Finish Line.

Bright orange Clemson top and black running shorts at the finish line.

Biking I'll be in a black Malone Coaching 2 XU top and black shorts. My bike however, is easily recognizable. Black Felt B12 with Orange Tiger paws on either side.... my avatar...

Hope to see everyone out there and thank you for volunteering. Having BT on the course is a huge motivation boost!

To answer your first question - I tried to volunteer for the men's tent but they wouldn't let me!

Second, are you absolutely sure you'll get registration priority for doing that Monday morning shift?

Regarding the taste, I think my flight lands at 2:30 and I'm staying with family about 4 blocks from Capitol Square so with a little luck, I should be stuffing my face by 4pm or so. I'll be returning on Sunday as well!

Have done the body marking a couple of times.  That is really fun to see, and bonus, I am there for the start too!  Have also served food to the athletes after they have finished a few times as well.  Know the woman who was in charge that, but she is doing IM Moo this year, so am doing going to be a bike course marshall for the first time.

Love being there!  It is so inspirational.  Finally got my nerve up this summer to my first tri and have now done 3...2 Olys and a sprint.  Doing Kansas 70.3 in 2009!

Hello, fellow volunteers - does anyone know if we are required to attend any type of pre-race meeting, and, if so, when it is? The email I sent to the volunteer director was not returned.

Great - thanks, Brian.

Does anyone know if this meeting is mandatory? We hadn't planned on arriving until later that morning.

I can't say for sure, but I'd guess there is some sort of volunteer check-in location where they can provide you the same directions and information they'll provide at the 8:00 meeting. I sincerely doubt they'll turn you away if you don't make it to the information meeting.

And, thanks again for volunteering! Us participants couldn't do it without you!

I missed the volunteer meeting last year, and everything was all right.  They don't encourage it, and if you have a important job, they may change you out to something else.  Just let your director know.

Thanks, everyone - the folks at Wisconsin Sports Development Corporation, which coordinates the volunteers, said that we could just show up at the aid station we're assigned to on race day. I got the impression, however, that the meeting might be mandatory for "more important" volunteer positions (i.e., medical). Volunteers coming in from outside Madison might want to check with WSDC and/or their station captain to see if their presence is necessary at the SAturday a.m. meeting.

Looking forward to cheering everyone on! Good luck to all the BT participants.
