Subject: Which tri cycling shoes ?

Hello Everyone !

I'm considering getting a pair of specific triathlon shoes and I would like to have advice from people who already, or who have had or  tried one of the following :

Louis Garneau Tri Air Compo Carbon :
595g / pair (42)
150$
Have tried them and the fit is perfect. Very easy to put them on and to remove them

Speciallized BG Trivent :
595g / pair (42)
170$ ?
Still trying to figure out how to easily put them on while on the bike... Why haven't they used the reversed sling ?

Shimano SH-TR50 :
??g / pair (42)
around 179$
Haven't tried them since I can't find them in stores. They look great and seem easy to put on and remove. Can not find the weight anywhere, event on Shimano's website which lets me suppose they are heavier than competitors...

Any other brand I should consider ? I have a narrow feet and Speciallized BG Shoes tend to fit me very well...

Thanks a lot for your precious advices !

Christian.

I've got both of these. The Shimanos have stayed in the closet basically since I got the Specialized. The Specialized fit and feel that good.

(edit) Oh, you'll not have a single problem with the Specialized getting into the chain, they just don't. (/edit)

Look around and wait for sales. I got both of these for about 50% of the listed price just by being in the right place at the right time.

I love the insert that comes with the Specialized shoe. Try them on you'll see what I mean. I had a numb toes issue that went away after gettting them too. They are nice airy which is a plus when riding in the south Tejas heat.

I just bought a pair of Shimano TR-50's. They look absolutely amazing, with all bright silver and blue detailing.  Their weight isnt much to brag about but the fit is perfect and the durability seems like they will last a verrry long time. Ventilation is perfect and water drainage hole under the tip is the greatest idea ive seen yet........ buttttt this is my first triathlon shoe purchased or even looked and im sure there are other greats out there.

I've only got about 150 miles on mine, but I like them so far. Very wide toe box works great with my very wide feet.

I have the LG Tri Air 2, if the Compo Carbon fits perfect go for it.

Mike, I'm curious about your statement "I love the insert that comes with the Specialized shoe. Try them on you'll see what I mean. I had a numb toes issue that went away after gettting them too. They are nice airy which is a plus when riding in the south Tejas heat.". What insert? There were no inserts for my Specialized, which I love!

Check these out. They come in a lot of the shoes as OEM:

Sorry to steal the thread, but what caught me was "the insert that comes with the ...shoe". Sounded like there was another insert in the box to replace the one in the shoe.

I guess insole or footbed might be more appropriate. The ones with the holes in them. They have that little bump right in the ball of the foot between the toes that seems to make the difference in my case. They are a much more substantial insert/insole than the ones that came with my previous two pairs of bike shoes, Sidi and Avenir. The little bump in my insoles seems to have collapsed after two years of riding. I need to email them to see if I can buy replacements.

I like the Pearl Izuma Tri shoes....Although you have to get use to the strap going the opposite way.
