Subject: RE: Garmin 305 multisport on sale @ REIbut do I really neeeed it? Will I learn more information about my training that I can use to improve? I don't use any gadgets currently besides my circa 1985 Timex Ironman watch. so no HRM. no pacing. not MPH or cadence on the bike. What I'd like, minimally, is a pacer for running; I typically start out too fast and pay for it later and overall. It was interesting to see HRM data the one day recently I worked out in a gym on a bike and treadmill. But the info didn't change my workout, it was just a curiosity.
I've just finished my first season of sprint tris. I currently do not have plans to go longer, mostly due to a lack of desire to swim long distances in water cold enough to require a wetsuit. Sure, I might change my mind, but I am happy at the sprint distance. That said, I have decided to train for my first 10K race. Biking is enjoyable but without someone(s) to ride with, the longer distances are not too interesting solo. As a mom of two under 4, my workouts are grab-n-go.
Any opinions? maybe there's a simpler/cheaper gadget for me.
