Subject: What is "70.3"
I realize this is probably the stupidest question ever, but what does the "70.3" stand for in relation to the Ironman triathlons?

Half IronMan. It's the total distance, as opposed to 140.6 for a full ironman distance.

70.3 refers to a 1/2 Ironman distance triathlon sometimes reffered to as a HIM. As you know its swim bike run in the following distances 1.2Mi 56Mi, and 13.1Mi run a full Ironman is double those distances.

Hey...Don't Worry Be Happy!!!....I think everybody though in the same question the first time that read about that:
70.3 is the total miles of :
1.2 Miles Swim
56 Miles Bike
13.1 Miles Run

Its also a brand now-a-days.  The "Ironman 70.3" series has events around the world that qualify triathletes for the Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Clearwater every November.  So, not all HIM races qualify (which is important to some - not me - but some who are really really fast).

70.3 is the height in inches of Ironmen Rutger Beke and Cam Brown. Duh...

man, it took me a few minutes to find Ironman triathletes who are 5' 10 1/2"!

"Its also a brand now-a-days."

Which apparently justifies those races being at least 25% more expensive...

You mean that isn't worth it?

(sarcastic font added afterwards to avoid confusion)

Wow, I feel so much better about my 5' 10 1/2" height now.

(Actually, I typically measure more like 5' 10 3/8" barefoot...never occured to me that I'm just about 70.3" tall...)
