Subject: RE: What do you look forward to with LouisvilleThe swim. After months of swimming 25 yards and hitting the wall and turing around it was so nice to be able to just swim. The water felt wonderful. For me, getting in the water is the best part of an IM (with the finish line being a close second). After months of training and pre-race anxiety, there is such a feeling of peace and relaxation and accomplishment when I finally hit the water. The thought "I'm doing an ironman" dominated my thoughts as I swam. Compared to biking and running, swimming is easy. At the swim exit I said to myself "OK, the fun's over, time to go to work." The other thing I'm looking forward to is the pre-race dinner and meeting about 75 BTers. It was so cool this year that many of us wore bright yellow BT shirts so we could identify each other. And someone had the great idea to put name tags on everyone with screen names so we could tell who was who. ~Mike |
