Master 2201 Elgin, | Subject: P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge Just a quick reminder of the rules of the challenge. The goal of the challenge is to get 5 workouts of at minimum 30 minutes. The workout does not have to be one straight exercise or done all at once. What this means is as long as you get 30 minutes of exercise in the day it will count for the point. For example, if you run for 15 minutes in the morning and lift wieghts in the evening for 25 minutes for a total of 40 minutes you have enough time to be counted. Each workout that is successfully completed is worth a point. The time periods that you have to complete your workouts and have them counted are Nov 8th, Nov 15th, Nov 22nd, and Nov 30th. I will try to get a spreadsheet up to log the points in. As a bonus you can get one extra point for any two time periods. What this means for you is there is a total of 22 points out of 20 points total. Yes there is a chance to get an extra 10%. The team that gets the most points wins the challenge. The teams are as follows: P.O.G.
Take this chance to get to know your teammates since you can't win this challenge by yourself. Good luck. Update 10/31 Here is a link to your team spreadsheet - P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC ChallengeIt is in a google spreadsheet the username is btchallenge the password is challenge forum just give a shout if you have any trouble! Let the games begin!

It's for those who are not submarine qualified. Course its not politically correct and I don't think they are use it anymore but whatever! |

Master 1843 Roswell, GA | Subject: RE: P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge Hello fellow POG mates! I did the Halloween Run Challenge and am now signed up for two this month. Just like tri's they are addiciting. Perfect for type A personalities - gives us one more more thing to be obsessive about. A little about me - Had back surgery (fusion) done 3 years ago this coming January. Took me a good year to recooperate and then last season to get back in shape. Used to be just a runner so last summer when I couldn't run I bought a bike and the rest is history as they say. I just finished my first real tri season. Did quite a few sprints, two Oly's, and the bike portion of a relay team for an HIM. I'm a single Mom of two team agers which gives me a fair amount of time to train if I work my schedule right. Can't wait to get to know you all. Good luck to us all and let's get moving! Edited by Lisa B 2008-10-30 9:00 PM |

My son is a senior in high school. I have no idea when I got old enough for this to have happened! I've also got a 12yo daughter. I just fnished my second season of triathlon. I did 2 sprints last year. This year I did 3 sprints and a duathlon. I'm getting much more comfortable with everything, even OWS, and I'm improving. I'm planning on doing a oly next year and at least 2 sprints. Running is my weakest event. |

Uxbridge | Subject: RE: P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge Hey fellow POGs. Just finished my second season of triathlons. I did several sprints, 2 olys, 4 ows races and an IM relay as the swimmer. ...I like to swim! I was never an athlete...but I quit smoking 3 years ago and took up running. I got injured early on and had to do something...so I started swiming and biking.... tried a tri...now I am hooked. Next year I will do my first HIM and hope to swim an IM relay again. I need some motivation in the off season.. I will try and be an active POG! |

Master 2146 East Side of the Bay | Subject: RE: P.O.G. Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge Hi All, I'm Kathy and live in Barrington RI, just a little North of Newport. I did my 1st sprint tri when I turned 44- something about those double 4s just bugged me. I had never competed in an event with a starting gun before that. I did a couple more the following summer and then life just got out of hand and I kept some exercise but no competing. I was out of swimming for the past year or so with a frozen right and partially frozen left shoulder. Back in the pool this August so I'm trying to get back into Tri stuff again. Turned 50 in May so I'm hoping to just out last most competitors- you can always place in your age group if there are only 3 of you in the race! I've got 2 daughters, the oldest, a runner, is a freshman at the University of Vermont, and a 16 yo daughter in high school. I can't believe time went as fast as it did. I'm hoping to add some weight training into my workouts over the winter and this challenge will be great for that. Any thoughts on a new avatar? I'm not sure how I think a POG will look- Paul's comments aside. |
