Swim
Comments: I really liked this swim! The incoming tide created such a current that I could just drift all the way to the dock without a single stroke and probably make it in time! The only problems were a few of the bouys after the left turn were out of place and they misdirected me a little before I got back with the group, and I got water in my goggles during the first 200 or so yards and had to stop several times before I fixed them so I think I lost a little bit of time to that. Otherwise, it was a great swim!! What would you do differently?: I would buy some new goggles (it's about time anyway!) and follow the other swimmers rather than the bouys. Transition 1
Comments: I felt good getting out of T1 and there were some really helpful people that got my wetsuit off very fast. I simply took my time getting into my clothes and onto my bike (which felt really good!). What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: I absoloutly flew down this course. After all the training I've done in the mountains there were many times where I had to hold back so I would have some legs to run on after the bike. If there were any hills, they were short and of very little consequence. I also fueled very well. Definetly one of my favorite parts of this trip! What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: A really convenient part of this race, the T2 volunteers took my bike and helmet and racked them for me whilst I took my bike shoes off and put my running gear on. Great transition overall. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: I enjoyed the scenery on the run although I was very tired and in a little bit of pain for most of it. The volunteers were beyond helpful and very encouraging. The knees didn't hurt too bad but my legs locked up after the 3rd mile and I couldn't open them wide for the rest of the race. Oh well. I feel like I ran well, my body just gave out on me. What would you do differently?: I don't know, train harder next time maybe? Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough training. Event comments: This race is definetly a possibility for next year depending on how much training I can get in. I really, really want to do it again we'll just have to see. It was very well run and the volunteers were out of this world. Kudos to Setup and Wilmington for an Excellent race!
