Regular 56 Tampa, Florida | Subject: RE: bike fit in kansas I hear that Randy at the Bicycle Pedaler (316-685-4545, 330 N. Rock Rd.) here in Wichita is oustanding and is usually booked out weeks in advance during the spring and summer. I am actually going in for my fit on Monday, so I can let you know what I think. Cycling is new for me but by brother used to be a Cat 2 and my father also cycled a lot back in the day. They always bought from Bicycle Pedaler and were very happy. My experience so far has been the same. |

Alpharetta, Georgia | Subject: RE: bike fit in kansas I ditto the 'good things' about Bicycle Peddler. I haven't had a bike fit there, but I know first hand that their customer service is top notch, and they do carry a selection of multisport items. But yeah, plan in advance. Even a tune up will have you bike-less for a week or so. Last year when I got a tune up they asked how many miles were on my chain. I guessed, and assumed they would try to sell me a new one (think the oil change guys and how you ALWAYS need a new filter or whatever). The guy brought out a tool, measured something, then said "nope, you're still good." Also, when I was buying shoes/pedals and the works for my new tri bike, I had originally gone into another bike shop (the one in Old Town). They did not seem interested in helping me, and they only had a few type of women's shoes, none of which were in my size. They siad they could order me a pair. I didn't want to order without trying on, so I went to Peddler. There, the guy spent probably an hour having me try on all kinds of shoes until I found the one I wanted. My first experience with them made me a loyal customer for life. |

Veteran 178 | Subject: RE: bike fit in kansas Thanks everyone for the tips, i'm more of a west sider but sounds like i'm going to have to make a trip over to Rock. I've usually dealt with the people at bicycle x-change but the guys there always seem much more geared towards mountain bikes. Although he was pretty helpful when i was looking into getting a Fuji Aloha. |

Regular 56 Tampa, Florida | Subject: RE: bike fit in kansas Just to update - I had my bike fit with Randy at the Bicycle Pedaler this afternoon...I was VERY impressed. Randy is definitely an expert and carefully thinks through every detail and measurement. I am new to this so I was asking a bunch of questions and also I am kind of in between 54 and 56 sizes, so we spent a lot of time thinking about which made the most sense. Randy actually spent 3.5 hours with me and I thought went way beyond my expectations to make sure we got the right bike and options. I think we ended up with a great solution. I HIGHLY recommend going to Randy for your fit. |

If I remember correctly, I think they charge $150 if you are not buying or did not buy from them. The phone number is 685-4545 if you would like to call and verify. |

Regular 58 Durango, Colorado | Subject: RE: bike fit in kansas I too used Randy at the Bicycle Pedaler in Wichita. He is very knowlegable and I feel like he steered me in the right direction while being perfectly honest with me. They did charge something like $50 for the fitting but it was all put toward the bike if I bought from them (which I did...I ordered the 2009 Cervelo S1 and had them do a few adjustments and upgrades). I live out west too, but the trip to Rock Rd. is well worth it. I LOVE Bicycle Pedaler! |

Extreme Veteran 961 | Subject: RE: bike fit in kansas Another thumbs up for Jeff at Elite. Had my fitting on Wednesday and was impressed. Only have put an hour on the trainer since then, but can already tell a big difference. Wish I would have gone in before my HIM, but I guess I'll appreciate the bike fit all the more at the next race. Hardest part of the whole process was ignoring the '09 Felts and Argon 18's lining the walls.... |

I'll 4th Jeff at Elite. However, I wasn't successful at ignoring the wall full of Felts. Was it black, silver, white or red? To the question above, don't want to be doing price quotes on Jeff's behalf, but it was $150 for a basic fit for me, YMMV. Jeff's been busy, Ryan our spin instructure had a fitting with him last week too.

I went silver + Zipps, the yellow was awfully tempting but then there wouldn't have been much left in the budget for wheels. Which one are you looking at? |

Extreme Veteran 669 Olathe, Kansas | Subject: RE: bike fit in kansas I am a "regular patient" of Jeff's. I could not ignore Argon18 so I ended up with E112 Dura Ace, Zipp 404F/808R and some cockpit mods. I like the results. As it turns out, I now know Mike too. We passed each other and talked a little on Sunday during ride. Nice Felt there Mike, I like that. I always thought that Felt tri bikes offered the most bang for the buck with only P2C being able to stand up to it in that regard. As with Jeff, nice selection of tri bikes, lines that nobody else in town carries(Jamis, Argon18, Felt, Parlee) and expert fitting that in my limited experience no one else has here, unless I am missing something. I always drool when I am there, even after getting my bike. Every time I am there, I walk out with something. I almost got "grounded" for that. |

I'm thinking silver or white. Question: How'd it work with adding on the Zipps? Did you keep the stock wheels for training or were you able to swap out the wheels? |

I'm thinking silver or white. Question: How'd it work with adding on the Zipps? Did you keep the stock wheels for training or were you able to swap out the wheels? Now that we've completely highjacked the thread...I kept the stock wheels for training, the Zipps are 808 tubulars, all carbon. They were 2008 demo wheels on closeout, otherwise I probably would have gone with Flashpoints or Heds and rode them pretty much all the time. There's a stretch of road I frequently hit with a bunch of potholes at the bottom of a hill, bunny hopping the Felt wheels doesn't scare me but the Zipps don't have as much tire so could be quite expensive. Anyway, I got SwissStop brake pads good for carbon and aluminum and an extra cassette (wait on the cassette until you see if you want more or less gear than stock), I generally pull the wheels and transport the bike in my trunk so swapping wheels is no extra work. The only PITA is the Zipp rim is wider than the Felt rim so I gotta tweek the brakes or leave them a bit loose on the Felts. I started out wanting a single set of wheels for racing and training but the lack of weight in the tubulars is amazing, can't wait to race them on a hilly course. |

New user 11 | Subject: RE: bike fit in kansas I will also put my vote in for Jeff at Elite Cycling. I know of one professional Ironman who uses Jeff for his fitting. I also know a guy who was a top 100 Ironman finisher at Kona Last year. He did a fit with Jeff and the guy rides on a Computrainer. Went home and rode the bike with the adjustments that Jeff made and averaged 30 more watts over an hour. The guy now swears by him. The fit tool he uses is the "Argon Fit Bike" and his prices are reasonable $150 for a fit regardless of whether or not you buy a bike from him. I am now into him deep, I have a Parlee TT that is supposed to be here any day with lots of toys on it. |

I would love to see your ride when it's done. I saw one Parlee TT bike at 70.3 New Orleans and it looked very cool. Good luck with your new ride. |

They use the Specialized BG fit system. If it works for Cancellara and the boys of Saxo-Bank its gotta be good, right? I'll post a review once I have it done. |

New user 108 Kansas City Metro | Subject: RE: bike fit in kansas Had my fit done over at Sunflower this week. Difference is night and day from before I went in. They kept my position aggressive, yet comfortable. Tweaked my cleats and sent me out the door. Charge was very minimal. Sunflower is not the most Tri friendly in terms of bikes and parts, but their staff is probably the best in the area. If interested, contact Paul, Adam or Colin. |
