It is on Tuesday, I believe.  So I will run, work, lift weights, and watch Biggest Loser, in that order.

I'll be watching the festivities from my sofa with a hot cup of coffee and wondering why on earth they decided to do this in DC in January.  June would be much more pleasant.

I don't think I've ever watched an inauguration.  Just not terribly relevant to my daily life.  And the whole work thing.

I will be there in person with a couple friends from work.  I believe Renee will be there too.  I posted a thread last week about who was going, but I don't think there are many of us from BT going.

Disclaimer - this comment is not based upon the nature of the party coming into power, it would be the same if McCain won......

phew... that said....

I am so glad the federal government finally found a place to spend that $40M apparently burning a hole in its pocket

I'll be working and waiting for Wolf to post something partisan that day

I may be totally wrong, but I was pretty sure that this is not tax funded.

Thankfully I'm working nights so will be sleeping all day during all the hype and will be at work during the silly thing.  I frankly could care less.  The networks are really blowing this out or porportion.  Just glad it is almost over..... IMO

You are totally wrong.  Bush just approved the additional budget required.

What are you going to be doing. Me, I will be working and having a normal day I presume.

Are many of you going to watch it on TV or in person?

definitely not either.  it is a momentous occasion and all, but i'll be flying to cali.  even if i wasn't, i wouldn't watch.

i live about 150 miles south of DC and our major highways have traffic advisories for the inauguration...craziness.

Taking the family to Hawksnest Ski Resort for snow tubing for the day and DVR'ing the inauguration.  I promissed the kids that if we didn't have decent snow here and could go sleigh riding, we would drive the 2 hours up to the mountains to do it.

No, he's not totally wrong.  The funding for inaugural events comes from both the President-elect's inaugural committee and fundraising, as well as the federal government.

I'm taking a day off of work to watch the events on TV.  Originally, I thought about going to DC, but I don't like large crowds, which would be a problem.

You are right.  I want to say the Govt is only picking up the security.  I believe.  And it is coming to the approximate $40M.  I think.

But, I could be wrong.  Wouln't be the first time.

Here is a link to an article on the cost.

Security is about $40 million, but two other states are asking for federal monies to the tune of an addition $75 million.
