I am about to order a pair of Zoot and I was wondering two things.

First, anyone can tell me exactly what is the difference between the Race, TT and Tempo+?

Also, I am wondering, should I go with a half size smaller since I will be socks less in them?

Thank you in advance

I was very hesitant moving to this shoe, but have had two PR's in them already in the last 2 months (ok maybe its IM training Im doing, but im giving credit to the shoes). I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the trainers b/c I was going to be using them for longer distances and didnt want them to wear out to quickly as I was told the others would with less rubber hitting the road.

As for the size - I was given a full size larger then my foot, which I ran in twice and promptly returned for only a 1/2 size larger (some times I wear with socks and sometimes without).

Based on my experience and understanding of the sizing, you should be using the same size you would in a "street shoe" and not what you would in a running shoe.  For example, I wear 10-1/2 in my work shoes but 11's for my Saucony running stuff.  I have both the Tempo TT and the Race in 10-1/2 and wear them sockless in tris.  Here's a pic of me in my latest mini-sprint tri in the race shoes.

The race is the yellow ones that are displayed in the posts... they have the carbon fiber arch.  I would recommend you go to a run shop and try them out.  I tried them and the arch was too stiff!  It is a very light racer though.
The TT is a neutral trainer/racer and this is the model I settled on.  The high heel takes some getting used to, but it is nice in T2.  The Tempo is the same shoe essentially as the TT with more outer arch support for overpronation (I think is how it is described).
I like the Zoots, although I only use them for sprints (5K's)  I use other shoes with Speed Laces and have the same or better results for a lot less money.  My biggest recommendation... go to a store and try them out on a treadmill and see how they feel first!  Good luck!

for what its worth they run pretty much true to size with asics shoes.

i wear a 10 in both.

i have trained and raced in the tempo (same as the TT but with a bit of stability) up to 15 miles without issue and do most of my training in those).

great shoes if they fit you.

I think im going to get these for training and another pair for racing - Ultra tempo +

I'm pretty sure all their shoes have their 'tri-dry' technology which I believe incorporates drainage holes

or you could go the route that I went, running on a trail near my office, felt something like a rock in my shoe which was in fact a 4" nail that I had managed to drive through the bottom of the shoe and voila...drainage!

I wear both the Energy and the TT2.0 and find i wear the same size as Brooks Glycerine. The feel abit larger than Asics 2110.

I have the tempo and am happy with them.  Wear seems OK.

Keep in mind that the same holes that let water out also let water in if you step in a puddle or it's raining.  I thought about that a lot as I sloshed through a half mary.

Comfy, though, and I run my normal size in the shoe.

this years size is true to my original size, last year had to go 1 1/2 sizes up?  wierd...  i've been running in my tempo 2.0 for awhile now and wish i got the trainer instead because i really love running in them.  Was hesitant to try them but now i don't want to run in anything else...  love them!

This was my experience as well with their sizing for last years models. I'm not sure about the new one's this year...also not sure how a pic of Rick dying running a 3K helped with the sizing question...

I have been wanting to try Zoots too, unfortunately sizes over 12 are hard to get apparently... for those of us that are real men with big feet and, well you know.... (slow times)

tri-do

I have the Energy, and they do NOT have drainage holes. The TT 2.0 has holes - two in the midfoot, three in the forefoot - but none in the Energy. I'm assuming it's the same with the Advantage, and that Zoot's philospophy is that in their training models it just isn't necessary. (And I'm not convinced it's necessary in the racing models, either!)

Sizing?

I wear 12 in Newton Distance and Newton Gravity.
I wear 12 in Fasttwitch 3, Sinister, and Tangent.
I wear 12.5 in Saucony Type A2.

When I bought Zoot Energy a few weeks ago it was a toss-up between 12 and 11.5. I bought the 12, ran 9.5km with socks, and had hot spots on the balls of both feet by km 7. I returned those and bought the last pair of 11.5 in both Energy and TT 2.0. I haven't run in either, yet.

What I wonder about the Zoot shoes is whether they allow more side-to-side "play". It seems to me that they are more spacious than most other running shoes, and maybe that's where my hot spots came from. I'm cautious about them, but also curious.

The main feature to me is the non-tongue, which is a problem I have with both Fasttwitch 3 and Type A2. I use E-Z laces on both, and have used E-Z laces on all my shoes for years, so I don't get all that much advantage out of the Zoot laces; the one-hand styling works well, however.

Nice sproing in the Energy model!
