What a great site. I will enjoy using all this info.. I am new to this triathlon stuff so all of this helpful. I am a runner and a swimmer but have no clue about the bike part. This is going to be an interesting year, learning a new sport and putting all three together.

Welcome to BT!  Always nice to see another Carolinian in here.  Lots of great people around, and the NC contingent is starting to rival those Floridians.  I wish you luck in your training, and if you use the free log feature on this site to blog your workouts and your upcoming races, we'll be able to check out all the cool details and try to meet up at the various races in the area.

Pretty much all of the local races are run by setup-inc.  At:

Thanks for the fast responses...
1. Wake man..great handle. Should I be Apex man?. First tri is in the cesspool Triangle second is Wilmington both sprints.

2. CO girl.. Got my first road bike 3 weeks ago. If you are from Colorado you would know REI. I'm an old school member and used my 20% off this year to get a K2 for $320.. ok, its a POS but its all I can afford and better then my old MTB.. Pulled my SPDs from my old MTB and I am set this year.. God, the bike part is going to kill me!!!! Did my first 15 mile and my lips were picking up ants..... Spinning Sucks P.S. I was smiling ear to ear.

3. jkbostic.. found the set-up site before so thank you anyway.. If I had not googled it you would have been there for me.. Are you from the Triangle area?

Welcome! I am in Raleigh as well...we have to get a group ride/run/swim together soon! Now, the important question---do you bleed Wolfpack red, Dookie blue, or Carolina blue?

I live up the road a bit in Burlington/Graham.  I'll see you at Triangle Tri though.  LOL....I heard that the water is really nasty.  Now you've confirmed it.

jkbostic The water in lake Crabtree is more then just nasty. Can you say PCB's and VOC's. And for additional pleasure after a good rain its muddy.

fitphd I bleed Hurricane red.. LOL unless they play the Caps, then my old Rod Langway jersey comes out (its red also). Missed hockey so bad this year I had to go to Fayetteville to see the Fire Antz play.
