This plan seems a bit skimpy, even if you're only trying to "finish".

Thoughts?

You DO know there are other sprint-level training plans available (with greater volumes), right?

seems light to me as well... if you want to train more I would go for it!

you could use the olympic plan...or just  use the sprint program and add 5 or 10 minutes to each workout

I agree that it does look skimpy.  Many of the free plans are designed to get an athlete to the finish line without injury.  This means that the training times are reduced to allow a body to adjust to training.  An added benefit of these plans is that the time required typically won't scare away beginners due to 10 hour training weeks.  Since you are already putting in over 4 hours a week these plans may not challenge you enough.

The silver level of membership gets access to very good training plans with volumes that you may be expecting or find challenging.  The silver level is one of the best triathlete training bargains around.

I used the 11 week couch to Sprint, but actually my first Tri was a Tri-It Novice Sprint for 1st timers.  I found the training for the bike and run were fine, but the swim... I wish I had put in longer sessions and and more yardage.  ITeh swim was only a 1/4 mile swim and I did Ok (what I expected for time), but it was not easy nor calming.  My arms felt like lead weights.  I am going to do a Tri-It again before moving into the full sprint mainly so I can prepare for the 1/2 mile swim.  I purchased the book Essential Week-by-Week Training Guide from Triathlete Magazine (Matt Fitzgerald) and am using a plan from this book for my next Tri-It, but using a Sprint Level 3 Plan.

I don't know the BT plan specifically, but I always modify standardized plans for my needs.  I'll move around the workouts to different days to fit my schedule.   I'll add miles when I feel my fitness is ahead of the plan, or subtract if I feel I'm not ready for the distance.  If I miss a workout I try to make sure it's a swim (my strength) or an easy bike or run, but not a key session (run or bike that is long or with some intensity).

I think that any standardized plan should be used mainly as a guide and should be modified to fit your specific needs.

Did you read who it was designed for?  It is for a 60 year old woman who started from scratch doing her first triathlon.

It may not be for you..

It is a plan designed to get someone to the finish line, and nothing more, for a sprint.  In that sense, it is not skimpy.  If your goals are different, add volume to the plan, or choose a different plan.

Skimpy?  No...not for a total beginner in all 3 sports using it for their first triathlon.  It's true though, my mother did this plan (60 at the time)..not designed for her specifically, but you get the idea.

Here are some volume graph comparisons:

Original 13 week sprint - free

3x per week balanced Sprint - free

Couch-to-Sprint - 12 Week - RPE Silver/Gold

Beginner Sprint - 12 Week - HR Silver/Gold

Intermediate Sprint - 12 Week - HR - Silver/Gold

Even the free 3x per week balanced sprint will have more volume if you need something more challenging.

Seems like plenty to finish.  I know people who have done less and finished.

I used that plan for my first tri. I felt it go me to where I could finish comfortably but that was it. To get to the point where I can do a sprint on a whim, I needed to add much more volume to my biking and running.

Thanks! Actually, I was hunting for a plan for my non athletic friend. I wanted to make sure the plan I gave her would get to to the finish line, and I was eyeing this one kind of doubtfully, as I am training way more.

However, I am injured now and can't race...so there is some irony.
