I am looking into getting a road bike since I only have a tri bike (Cervelo P3) and am doing a 270 mile charity ride this summer and possibly some road racing next spring. So, I need a bike that will work well for group rides, charity rides (eg. 100 mile+ days) but will also work for the occasional very hilly/technical bike leg of a tri or road race.
My budget is about $2000-$2400 (does not need to include wheels).
I've test ridden the Cervelo Team Soloist, which I like, but worried about the non-full carbon frame. Also, looking at the Cannondale Synapse, Scott CR1 team, Specialized Ruby/Tarmac.
Any thoughts/advice would be great!
Thanks!
Have you ridden any of these bikes?
I found that until I rode it, I didn't know if it was a consideration or not. On paper a lot of bikes looked great, but the ride was uninspiring.
When I got on my Specialized Tarmac... I was in love. Still am 2 years later! But it is an aggressive frame... meaning it's not meant for comfort riding.
The Specialized Roubix is made more for comfort... less agressive. Have you tried that yet?
