Well, at week three on my 9th visit to the pool, I finally feel that I can swim a few laps without fear of drowning. I was so discouraged just a few days ago due to the fact that I can't seem to keep the water out of my nose. I never have had a formal lesson so it just seems so unnatural to breathe out my nose and in my mouth. I had, at that point, only done 1 lap with my face in the water. Today I did 5 laps all with my face in! Secret...think what you like...nose clips. Whoo hoo! I am actually looking forward to my next swim instead of waking at 4 am in a cold sweat dreading it!

GREAT JOB!
You know, you don't have to breathe out of your nose when you put your head in the water... you can breathe out of your mouth.
I swim like a fish with it's mouth open... I just leave my mouth open the whole time and breathe out with my head in the water... and in when I turn my head.
If you think about it... when you run, you don't close your mouth to breathe out and open it to breathe in... right? So when you get in the pool and try to open/close your mouth at the right time... it's hard. Not to mention, it's not as easy to breathe out when your head in the water.
Yes, I have probably had some pretty gross stuff in my mouth at one time or another... but it's the only way I can swim and breathe. Especially if I'm swimming hard. Then I MUST keep my mouth open in/out of the water!
Keep swimming girl!
