How much for your Master's swim sessions? (Per year? Per months?) Just curious.

Do you feel it's worth it? Anybody feel they could do the same or better on their own?

i'm paying $35 for 16 sessions that i can use within 3 months.
it is definitely helping. for once, i did not know how to swim worth a darn. the coach is helping me with technique and endurance. plus there are other people there motivate me.
i like it.

20 classes for $60... so $3 per class

It was good starting out, but it seems like most of the coaches just write a workout on the board and don't provide any feedback.

But.. it's $6 for regular lap swim hours, kind of backwards if you ask me.

Is it me, or does that seem really low-priced?

I'm in LA, and the UCLA Masters swim team costs nearly $750 per YEAR, not including a $120 pool entry charge - it's been the limiting factor for why I'm not with masters yet, as I definitely can't get there consistently more than twice per week.

$20 per month, 5 sessions per week offered, unlimited participation. I will say they are terrible about billing so I haven't had to pay since January, even with prompting from me to send me a bill.

$50 a month.  More than 5x per week is possible for those that are motivated enough.

Correction - at UCLA, the masters team charges $840 / year for membership. Seems quite high to me - anybody beat that?

75 for 10 lessons.. And I thought I was getting a great deal...  For 7.5 a private lesson is a great deal...  In my opinion.  Yes it is helping.  At least it get me in the pool...

http://www.usms.org

For the OP; I pay $350/year for 3x/week coached swimming (3.5 hours plus 30' of dryland); we don't swim from mid-August to mid October.  Works out to be under $3/swim.

Wow, I'm getting a super deal. My YMCA membership is $40/month and the masters fee is $75/YEAR on top of that. For non-members, it's $100/year. We swim Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Our coach is a volunteer and they only have three lap lanes open for us, so it's not exactly a favored program at my Y. Water aerobics takes priority. Still, I'm glad I don't have to pay almost $1000 a year!

Just started looking into a local Master's swim group sort of close to me... they charge $100/quarter and that gets you access to three one hour sessions a week.  On Tuesday/Thursday evening and an evening swim on Sunday.  Seems like a deal to me since this pool charges me $7 each time I go there and if there is any remotely decent learning going on there... seems almost like a slam dunk in my case.

I'm waiting to hear back from the head coach, but I figure I might try it out and then decide if I want to continue or if I can take it from there on my own.

I pay ~$4/swim at a local community center (masters is included with the cost of pool entry).  The coaches are good and the training group is great:  mixed with former NCAA swimmers, triathletes, and beginners.

Ours is pay as you go, at $2/session. There are 4 sessions per week to choose from. It's at the Y, so you have to additionally have a Y membership.

In Dallas, TX to join the Dallas Aquatic Masters... it's $65.00 a month. There is access to various pools when they have their workouts... but I found that the pool locations and times did not fit in my schedule.

It was cheaper for me to join Lifetime Fitness for $43.00 a month. It's close to my house and I can swim whenever I want.

$5/session at a (disgusting) swim center in town or at the Y where I work.  I've gotten faster w/ help from the coach but still not speedy enough to be with the cool fast kids - still in a slowpoke outside lane w/ our own "special" workouts - don't mind it though - still a good workout and I really push myself.
