I'll be there, albeit underprepared.

Silly life getting in the way of all my training. I still hope to PR over last year's time (my 2nd tri ever).

Will there be a BT tent of some sort?

I am going to have to miss it this year but I had a blast last year at this race.  The bike was fast and the run was a great loop around the lake...remeber there is a HUGE hill at the end of the run.

Good Luck!

Carrollton will be my first tri - you'll likely find me at the back of the pack. I know that I'll feel a lot better about things once I get out of the water...swimming just doesn't seem to be my forte at this time.

I've been running (slowly) for about 3 years now and just did my first full marathon back at the ING.  I haven't spent a ton of time on my bike, but I'm pretty comfortable with it, and I've felt good going from a 12 mile ride to a 5K.

I've never done this one, but just signed up. 1st race of the year. What's the run like? is it on trails around the lake or roadway? Is it shaded?
Thanks!

i think the run was rolling early then flat middle and then a climb the last 200m. not alot of shade and it was quite humid last year.   it goes through a nhood of boat houses.

the swim felt longer then listed in a triangle.

hammer the bike. pretty flat if I recall correctly.

The thing I remember from last year was the free cans of RedBull after the race..I grabbed several and hightailed it just before it started raining.

I thought the run was long - that first mile seemed to take forever.

I am in for the 2nd straight year hoping to beat last year's time.  It's a fun race - much more low key than most and the bike racks are first come first served!

I also remember the Red Bull - caught a nice caffeine buzz off a can right after the finish.

The run is a bit hilly, almost no shade, and the finish is uphill.  I don't remember too much about the bike other than there are only a couple hills, nothing too bad.

See everyone there.

Just signed up for this - my 2nd tri ever (IronGirl at Lake Lanier in June was my 1st), and I'm sure I'll be at the back of the swimmers pack... LOL

Is there a place we can meet up? I would like to put some faces with names...

Wifey and I are driving up late Sat morning and planning on driving the route in the afternoon. Were staying at the Holiday Inn Express Sat night. Might be doing a room party for dinner (lean cuisien pasta dishes and red wine, ha ha). Look for us, we'll have our "Bean Team" kit on.

I'm in, but I'm doing a relay with my family.  My family put together 3 relay teams, so we'll be competitive as hell trying to earn bragging rights. Can't wait!
I'm doing the bike portion, so I'm glad to hear it's a pretty fast course.
Look for our team...I had shirts made...our team name is "Tri to Catch Us"!
Good luck to all!  C-ya out there.

Great race today.  Wish I could of stayed around longer but I am already on my way back down to the Sunshine State of Florida; swung by Columbus to pick up my kids from grandmas.  Thank you to event organizer Dave Johnson for nice event.

Nice race Kevin- You smoked the field! You got out of there so fast afterwards, you missed the race directors accolades re: your race. My got up at 5am, drove from Atlanta and when I started setting up transition, realized that I forgot my bike shoes. lol- I'm such an amatuer. Ended up riding on top of my pedals in my run shoes. Made for a quick transition at least...
Overall a fun race- kind of informal, but in a good way.

Did anyone notice the leeches in the lake? I overheard someone in the warmups saying there were leeches in the deeper muck about 10-15 feet from the shore. I had been standing in that area for about 5 min and was thinking... 'shiiiiit'. I walked back to the shore (from the mucky area) and had about 50 of the little blood suckers on my feet and lower legs.

Wow - that's the first I hear about the leeches - nasty.  I stood on solid ground until just before my wave was starting, so fortunately I missed them.

I did see you guys in your "Tri to Catch Us" race shirts - but didn't read your post about it until jst now.

I thought the race was a lot of fun - I sure wish they would add timing chips....wonder how much that would add to the registration costs??

I left right after finishing, so still waiting for the results on Active.com.

We did see your Tri To Catch Us shirts - almost asked about them before the race...

Overall I thought it was a fun race, although my swim time sucked! It took me longer to do this 1/4 mile than the IronGirl 1/3 mile... Not sure why....

Looking forward to the October tri at Lake Lanier - but looking for some swim coaching first!!! The book Total Immersion is waiting for me at the library, just got the email yesterday that it is ready for pick up...

Nice meeting you yesterday.

I'm officially out of the Back of Pack. 13/26 and 113/247. Woot.

i had a slowish swim, a good ride (missed 20-mph average by a hair) and a surprisingly good run. I forgot it was a 3.4-mile course instead of the standard 3.1.

I did my splits and based on the 3.4mi run it says I ran a 7:11 pace.....If I ran a 7:11 pace on those hills i'd die and go to heaven...no way...lol
my swim was 10:12 (swim felt long...again)
I did 21.4 on the bike in my running shoes and baskets and my T2 time was 24sec. (love the baskets for a sprint race)
I finished 5/33 AG and 28/248 overall, took 1:28 off my time from 07.
Great weather...wow felt like spring.
See eveyone at TRI PTC next month.

For my second tri, I had a fun time, but it was very humbling! Its quite different to start in the first wave of a 900+ participant female only tri, than at the back of the pack with only 250 men and women!!!!!

Can't wait to October to see how my performance improves! Now... off to research a swim coach. Any suggestions in Gwinnett County????

ps - wonder if i should switch to baskets vs clips for sprint tri's... everyone said spd clips were the way to go for power, etc. but it takes longer in transitions..... what do you guys think???
