Subject: Bike quality question...
Does anyone know the quality of the Jamis Ventura sport or Novara Divano?  I'm not sure how they would compare to a Cannondale Synapse?  Thanks!

Jamis and Cannondale both make good bikes.  I don't think the 'quality' of either one is in question.  I'm pretty sure I have seen both brands being ridden in the TdF.

As for the Novara, I'm sure they are solid bikes, but as far as I know, only REI sells them.  In general, I tend to lean towards the big makers/brands for reasons that may or may not be valid.

I've got a Jamis Trilogy and I think they put out a great product and their spec's are usually great.

Novara is REI's own brand/private label.  Don't know who makes them.

If you feel like the bikes are apples to apples you might want to consider the warranty.  REI's warranty can't be beat.

I'm a biking newbie so take what I say with a grain of salt but I bought a Novara Divano back in May as my first ever road bike and I love it. My husband is a pretty experienced cyclist and we did a lot of research comparing the Novara bikes to the Cannondales that REI had available since I wanted to buy at REI so I could get the dividend.

I was able to get the same or better components as some of the entry level brand name bikes while saving hundreds of dollars. The Divano has a carbon fork, and we ended up getting all of the components as Tiagra, and swapped out the cage pedals for SPD's. It's definitely a beginner bike for me, nothing too fancy but it rides really well.

Ditto this...did a lot of research and found the Novara brand was comparable to the cannondales in terms of features, but so much less expensive.  Service center has been great.  I love my Novara road bike.  And it's backed by the REI warranty, too...

granted i am an rei employee so this may be a biased opinion but novara bikes are good bikes and great bikes for the price.  novara is made by novara which is an offset of rei, now the nice thing about rei producing the bikes is the cost is much lower for the consumer (only 10-20% mark up)....the same bike made by scott and sold at rei would be $100-$400 more because they would be forced to be the middle man. as far as guarantee if you were to purchase any bike at rei it would be covered.  the divano is a nice back the frame design is more of a laid back from compared to the strada or squadra but still has a nice a aerodynamic feel to it.

hope this was a little helpful and i could answer any questions on the divano or rei you might have in the future.
