Subject: Ear Ache 6 weeks out from IM
Went on a rafting adventure this past weekend in not the best of water conditions... Have a very sore ear which comes and goes! Just got out of a 2 hour swim with some discomfort... Any over the counter drugs you folks might be familiar with besides ointments that just dry up the ear? Maybe something that fights infections... I have many long hours coming up for open water swims and need this to go away FAST!

I would have it checked to make sure you don't have an infection.   If it is infected then you need  an antibiotic.

Well your doctor will give you the scoop but I recently went through this. Usually I use ear plugs but didn't recently so I could listen to my new swimp3. Wham, killer ear ache. Doctor put me on antibiotics and suggested a decongestant. It took two weeks for it to clear up.

It could be swimmers ear. If water sits in your ear too much it can cause this. If so the treatment is very simple.
