Shoot- I hit enter too soon so there's no Aug 16, PM ride, lunch picnic option.  Just mention that in your reply if that's your vote.  Let's plan on Chatfield and some sort of ride from there before we all settle down to the swim beach for some food and socialization.  Bring kids and spouses and maybe dogs (anyone know if dogs allowed at the swim beach?)

This is a picnic to help recent transplants (and everyone else) meet some neat people in the area.  If you have a race this weekend, rest assured that there's a big end of season bash slated for the end of September when our schedules will hopefully be a little more open.

Would you all rather have a potluck or BYOF(ood) & BYOB?

Saturday mornings are out for me unless I'm blessed with a performance kiddie trailer.

I voted Sunday AM ride, picnic lunch.

I voted for the 16th because the Leadville 100 Mtn bike race is on the 15th and Lance is coming back again this year to beat Dave Wiens since he lost to him by 2 minutes last year.  I'll be up there to watch that and will probably ride/run a little while I'm there and take advantage of the altitude.

I can do either but FYI that's Rattlesnake weekend.  Races both Saturday and Sunday.

Yeah, I checked Active.com and even if I only include triathlon, there's actually not a good weekend until late September.  September isn't as good for me and I wanted to get out before the weather started to cool off, so I went with the 15th and 16th because from the responses I got in the other thread it sounded like this is when the interested people could make it.

I have no problem organizing an end of season bash too at the end of September that more people will be able to make it to!

I'm not certain that we can make it but the 16th is a s good as just about any other day.  Hopefully it works out so that I can meet some of you.  Thanks for organizing this!

Either day should work for Ted and I.  I think BYO is easier for food and drink.  Thanks for getting us organized!

Hey, I really want to meet everyone but I am doing the Rattlesnake back to back.  I should be able to make the picnic but not the ride.  I am hoping to cruise over after the race and hang out!
Thanks for organizing! Cool

Thanks for organizing this. My family and I (wife and three daughters) will try our best to be there. Will be a good end of the summer for the kids as school starts back the following week. Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Ok.  Aug 16th it is with an AM ride and a lunch picnic.  Bring your own food, beer, SO and kids.  We can plan on meeting at the swim beach so kids and SOs can have some entertainment while we're biking.  Here's the map

If everyone is up for a bit of a warm ride, we can meet at 9 (we'll plan on leaving at 9:15 so call if you're going to be late otherwise the group will assume you're not coming).  My Hubby has generously offered to guard the beer until we all get back (ha!)  I think COSkiGirl had a good suggestion when she recommended we ride up Deer Creek Canyon so we'll count on that.

If you guys want my cell number just in case you're late or get lost, PM me and I'll give it to you.

This sounds like a lot of fun. I am doing the Rattlesnake sprint that day but would love to attend the gathering in September if that takes place.
Enjoy!

Hi everyone! I'm not sure if I can make it, but I would love to finally meet everyone! I need to figure out if my husband is working that weekend. If he is, I probably won't be able to do the ride, but may be able to do the picnic. What time should we meet for the picnic??

I'm looking forward to it!  Although I'm nervous about my bike fitness as I've been off of workouts for 3 weeks.   Worst case I'll drop off the back end and then catch up with you guys on your way down.

Let's plan on 11:30 or so for the picnic.  I think my Hubby will be there when I get there, so he may be guarding the beer the whole time we're riding.  Maybe.

COSkiGirl- my bike fitness isn't awesome either.  We can go so far as to have a fast and slow group if we need to, I was originally thinking it would be nice to make it sort of an easy, social pace than a kick my butt and call it a hardcore workout kind of ride.  We can figure it out when we're all there.

Lauren,

Thanks for taking the lead on this.  Would really like to join but we have family in town over the weekend and just can't fit this in.  Have fun!

Still planning on it, looking forward to meeting everyone!

Is someone  going to mark the meeting spot with a balloon or a swimcap?

How about a bucket?  Maybe with some ice and beer?

See you all soon!

Sorry guys, but I won't be able to make it to the ride/picnic this weekend! We actually decided to go camping with our two boys instead. With my Harvest Moon training and the unpredictable CO weather we figured we may not get another weekend to go! Hopefully I'll get to meet some of you sometime soon! Aimee
