New Bike from Germany Finally arrived....

Hey Chris thanks,  I will tell ya I got I didnt my first races last year and my first olympic distance and its great. I had a slight injury to a shoulder last year and missed 7 months but I started up again with the Paleo Diet and the new bike. My old bike sat me up straight but the problem was that I am paralysed Chest down so I dont have ab muscles. so this bike plants me in the seat. I will definatly be better off in the long run. I have a race sept 12th and then June 13th next year is the Eagleman 70.3. 

As a vet you know that we adapt and overcome.  I am fused from C7 to t12 so there are 14 inch rods in my bad so I do my swim sidestroke....LOL its slower than freestyle but hey, we get it done.....

Very nice Scotty. That's awesome to see you out there grinding away! I'm no expert, but I'd think 16mph is pretty good speed, considering the drivetrain!

Nice!  I have a USAF buddy who raised money for Operation REBOUND during this years FL 70.3, and the stories he had were amazing. Whenever I start wussing out on my training, it helps to think of the amazing folks like yourself that overcome so much to still go on & rage hard as triathletes - it's awesome!

And you said it - adapt & overcome is right on.  You're an inspiration - thank you again!

Very cool. What shifting do you have on there? When I tried handcycling, I found the shifting akward as you lose all power when you move to shift. I totally think the new Dura-Ace electric push-button shifting system will improve hand cycles tremenously.

Also, hand cycling is tremendously difficult. I was humbled how weak my upper body is compared with my lower.

Thank you...my shifter are push button and trigger on the left and right handles. I do not have to take my hands off the grips to shift.  I also have a 50/34/25 big ring, the granny gear helps with climbing. I have all sram components also. Madison Tri like I said is a couple months away so ill be all set by then..I could do it now but I want to really kill it.

yeah, its a mountain bike gear set, however my cadence is alway 80-95 so its just work I have to do.

Can I ask what is probably a stupid question?  Are you able to complete the bike and run segments on your bike, or do you have to switch to something else for the run portion? 

(My guess would be you use your bike for both, but it looks a little different than the ones I've seen in road races...but maybe that is only because yours is custom.)

Jess, this is the one I use for the bile portion, I then tranfer out of it into my regular wheelchair and then jump in my racing chair which is the bottom picture. The tranfers are tough when your muscles are beat.

Sgt... Thanks a lot for the kind words..I am racing in the Eagleman Half next june for the Paralyzed Veterans of America. I love racing, did it was I was in the Navy and figured I would give it a werl now..
