I really want to do an open water swim this Tuesday at the Cherry Creek Res or the Aurora Res but I heard their was a serious e coili problem. Anybody taking the chance to swim this week? I have already completed an IM distance in the Aurora Res about a month ago and I really thought it was a great event.

I had that same worry last week (see this thread) but everything appears to be open again.

As Molly said, Aurora probably the safer option.  If the weather cooperates I'll be at Aurora Rez tomorrow to attempt the IM distance (never swam that far before).

As Mollyland said there were a lot of people at Aurora res on Sunday.  I went.  I figure since they are aware of the issue at other locations they would have tested the waters and if there was a public health and safety issue they would have prevented people from swimming.

Yes, I would avoid Cherry Creek rez at all costs.  To understate it, it's friggin' gross.  And even Chatfield rez has had recent e-coli issues though that is the first time I've heard of that.  Aurora Rez or Chatfield gravel pond are great places to swim and I've heard good things about Grant Ranch.
Cherry Creek just has way too much boat and human traffic and the relative proximity to civilization makes it inclined to run off.  E-coli is nearly always a problem there and even if the levels are "safe," they are still elevated.
