Subject: RE: Just curious...abreske - 2009-07-24 1:11 PM I've got my first sprint tri in 16 days and besides being scared to death, but incredibly excited, I've got a couple of questions that I hope someone could answer!
1.) Are chip timing straps provided or does it depend on the race? 2.) Any recommendations for a good pair of tri shorts? 3.) Any pre-race jitters advice? Just thinking about it is starting to give me butterflies!
Thanks for your help!
1 ) if it is a chip timed event then yes, the strap will (should ) be provided. Be aware, I had an old velcro strap, and even though I thought it was tight enough, it came undone during the swim. I now elec tape and safety pin it. 2 ) personal preference. I have zoot shorts that I practice in and a desoto one piece that I race in. 3 ) RELAX. Get there early, walk around and familiarize yourself w/ the transition area, maybe go for a warm up jog, swim etc. Talk to people around you. You'll most likely find someone else in your same situation. Or at least someone who has been in your situation. Practice your transitions at home, before the race, one less thing to worry about. Start at the back of the swim and away from the line. IMO its better to pass people on your first OWS than get passed and swum over in a wave start. And most importantly - Have fun Edited by ratherbesnowboarding 2009-07-24 12:24 PM
