Subject: How to properly tape wrap TT bullhorns?

I can't seem to get my bar tape to stay put on my Cervelo P2C TT bullhorns. Any good references out there on how to do it properly so it stays?

i start at the end of the bar. pulling it tight and overlapping half of the tape once you get the desired length cut and tape with electrical tape. should stay.

I had the same problem and bought a different type of bar tape from Nashbar...the kind that looks like carbon.  It's sticky enough on the underside to stay put.

Start close to the brake levers, hold the end onto the bar and begin to tightly pull and wrap. Overlap the bar tape about 50% on each pass and continue to wrap until you get close to the end. You need to cut the end of the tape at an angle to make a taper...I like a taper about 1.5 inches in length.

If you do not cut a taper, the bar tape will have a "flap" that looks bad and will get caught on your hand and eventually work the bar tape off the bars.

The use electrical tape (use 3M it is the best and only tape I will use), and apply the tape to the tapered portion you cut, and then wrap tightly around the bars and overlapping the bar tape. I ususally wind around the bars about 3X.

Thats all there is to it.

I would try rubbing down the bars with alchohol first so that the tape will adhere better.

I had the guy at the store tape them and he actually cut the tape on an angle at the beginning so that he could get it really close into the brake levers/shifters.

I think the problem may be my old bartape. How often do you replace it?

I've been wrapping pretty much as described, but it's definitely lost it's ability to stick on, and no matter how well I electrical tape the end, after 5 hours, the middle part of the wrap is loose and rolling around.

Will try and use new bartape and see how it goes.

Yeah, get new bar tape.  The stuff with the adhesive strip on the back holds in place very well.
