Resident Curmudgeon ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() OK, we're a week into May, so this may be a little late to garner too much interest, BUT, now that the other two Will (waskelton) came up with the idea of having a fundraising BTer benefit from the challenge. One of the reasons I'm a little late is I wanted to check out some of the the particulars. I'm sure we haven't addressed every possible concern, but what we have seems to check out, so we'll give it a try this month. First some rules, as those participating in last month's challenge know, I likes my rules
At the end of the month, based on the vote of the successful challengers, we will designate one BTer's charity event as the challenge's beneficiary. Here are a few more rules regarding the beneficiary:
OK, enough with the rules (though we may see fit to add more later Edited by the bear 2005-05-07 9:01 AM |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This is my first challenge, but since it's for a worthy cause, you can count me in. Put me down for 250 miles at 2 to 1 odds. $20 unsuccessful, $10 successful. I don't have a specific charity in mind, however, since my wife is three years a cancer survivor, I will donate to a worthy cancer beneficiary. |

Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok, I'll ride 500k ~ 310 miles and pledge $10 win or lose. But I am going to count computrainer miles, not going to screw up my logs for a challenge. In exchange I give up my right to vote on the beneficiary. If this is not acceptable then I'm out. |

Resident Curmudgeon ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() No, that's fine, especially since you're pledge is win or lose it doesn't matter. If anyone else wants to log trainer miles, just let me know how much per week is "non-qualified" (indoor) and I'll deduct it from your total. Please go back and read the part about the beneficiary. We will vote to pick a single BTer as beneficiary, one who is doing an event/fundraiser for a charity. You may not necessarily have your pledge go to, say, special olympics, or cancer, etc. It will go to the fundraising efforts of a BTer. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm in for 600. $20.00 if I don't make it, $10.00 if I do. I did my 1st 2005 TNT event in April. Next on my schedule will be El Tour de Tucson in November. Keep me in mind when thinking about BTers' charities. |

Elite Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm in for 260 miles this month. $25 win or lose since my time on the trainer is weather dependent. Oh, and yes, I'm a PITA. I don't use the logs but I'm happy to PM my mileage to you if that is alright. |

Yeah, saw that, but didn't think it would be fair for me to get 300 votes if only 200 of my miles were outdoors. Besides all of the BTers are working for good causes. So, I'll pass on the vote. Thanks for allowing me to participate. BTW the reason I didn't put a higher pledge for failing is that then I would have an incentive to fail, (it's for a good cause). hehe |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The charity is really a moot point. Icing on the cake. I get to challenge myself and give to a worthy cause. It really doesn't matter to me what the charity is as long as it is not political or religious in nature. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm in and up for 120 miles. I'm not really sure what I'm capable of at this point since I've only been on my bike about 3x. That said, I'll exclude my spinning class workouts so I can at least be consistent with one of the rules! Oh, and count me in for 10 bones either way. Butt, bike. Bike, butt. Now start getting comfortable with one another. |
![]() ![]() |
Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm in for 200 miles, but I too will have to use trainer miles because of my stress fracture--don't know how much I'll be out there. And I'm in $10 either way. Is that cool? And my charity is the MS 150, link in signature. If I can make it through the ride with my foot, I'm almost at my goal for the month. -Seb |
![]() ![]() |
![]() | ![]() Yippee! I'm ready to get my rear back on the bike more consistently. Count me in for 200. I'll give $15 either way. Will have to learn some about BTers different charities. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok, 200 miles (which will be tough because up till now I've logged a fat zero) and I'm up for $15. I, of course, will be voting for me and my Tour de Cure fundraiser. What can I say? I'm selfish in an altruistic kinda way! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I will do a goal of 100 miles, since I didn't make the 150 last month. I will pledge $10, either way I would like to offer up either of my two fundraisers I am doing: 1) Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training doing the Philadelphia Triathlon 2) American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure in the Philadelphia Area Links to both are in my signature |

Elite Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() OK, I have to up my mileage a lot anyhow so might as well give myself some incentive. I'm in for 250 miles, $20 regardless, and my votes will go to Seb's MS150 since an MS cure is near & dear to my heart. Thanks, Bear, for organizing this thing. |
