Dang and it's still open! This a race I'd like to do some day but if I did another IM next year I'd get my divorce papers from my beautiful wife, not to mention I think I'll need an easier year for 2010.

But, what I want to know is, why did they open it today? I emailed them weeks ago and asked what their game plan would be if they didn't sell out on-site after this year's race. Seemed like a perfectly fair question to me...if they knew they might go online wouldn't they need to have a contingency plan in place with active.com?? They replied with something like..."we won't know until we find out if we sell out on-site". Ummmm, yeah, I could kind of figure that one out on my own without sending an email inquiry. Then, they posted a message on the website well before the race saying that once the status of on-site registration was determined they would go online IN MID-SEPTEMBER if there were any slots left over. And then they open it up on August 31? WTF is up with that? Whatever....I'm in and that's all that matters.

There's a discussion elsewhere that that language is a remnant from last year that they never changed, when they still gave out vouchers requiring payment later. They wouldn't know until the drop dead time how many vouchers were claimed. I recall reading something like that language last year.
