Subject: What's in your Smoothie?
I love my post workout smoothie, I dont think I could make it through most workouts without knowing my loving blender will be waiting for me. So today I tried peach in mine for the first time and mmmhmm it was good. My usual smoothie is a banana, blueberry yogurt, cranberry pomegranate juice, strawberries, blueberries, and soy milk. What's in your smoothie?

Protein powder, lowfat yogurt, milk (frequently soy milk) and fresh fruit (frozen in the winter).  Fruit varies, but could be peaches, bananas, blueberries, mixed berries, raspberries, etc.  I usually just include one fruit unless I'm splitting with my wife, then we'll do banana with something else.  Also sometimes include vanilla and/or cinnamon to add a different flavor to the smoothie.

Non fat or 1% milk, frozen fruit and protein powder, it blends up like a milkshake. Sometimes I throw in a splash of orange juice or a handful of spinach.

Generally it's a free form "whatever is on hand" affair with frozen mixed berries, yoghurt, orange juice, banana, heart of hemp and/or ground flax

Tofu, OJ, pineapple or mango, raspberries, blueberries, or blackberries or a blend of all 3, a hint of local raw honey, and a little natural pnut butter, or almond butter.

My Favourite is a cube of Peach dessert tofu, a frozen banana, fresh or frozen fruit and orange juice.  It's the bomb.

a real man wouldn't drink soy dude! (unless you're lactose intolerant), plus the casein in milk is actually better utilized by the body than soy and whey protein. 


Glad someone caught the irony. It's actually Vanilla Light Soy...

I have been thinking about the whole soy/estrogen thing. I'm not lactose intolerant, but I used to drink way too much milk and got away from it.

I feel like I'm slacking off on the smoothie recipes after seeing others... I'm lazy, so the less work/ingredients the better most of the time for me... strawberries, banana, 2% milk, ice.  If I could just find strawberries with the tops cut off already that would be even better... then there would be almost no work involved.

Real Vanilla Ice Cream (not teh cheap mostly sugar and water junk)
Skim Milk
Scoop of Chocolate Carnation Instant Breakfast
Peanut Butter
Banana
Handful of Old Fashioned Whole Grain Oats.

I have two, the quick version is low fat milk, whey protein, banana, sunbutter, a little honey and oat bran. Might just use fruits if no banana available.

The long version lowfat plain yogurt, blueberries, almond or sunbutter, honey and oat bran or flax seed. Both are pretty good. The second one is the Carmichael Shake.

The first one I'll use more post workout, the second can be used as a meal supplement about 430 calories.

Banana, soy milk, juice if there's any available--just a teeny bit, ice, psyllium, flax seed oil, huge handful of spinach, frozen fruit if there's any around, and whatever other fruit around, and some Alive protein powder or LUNA strawberry protein powder.... I do vary it a lot just depending on what is handy.  The handful of oats sounds interesting, I'll have to try that.  I am a fan of psyllium and spinach in my shakes/smoothies--no flavor but oh so good for you!    All this writing reminds me I need to go whip up a smoothie!

1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup pomegranate juice
1 scoop whey protein isolate (about 20-25 gm)
water as needed to blend


I use this for recovery only.

It's actually my breakfast every morning as opposed to an post workout shake. I wake up craving it though...
