Well I have come to the end of my rope. I have hung in there and lasted weeks, but I just can not take it any more!!!!! When I started Tri training (and swimming) my friend told me I could not bleach and die my hair blonde any more. The chlorine would turn my hair green. So I reconciled myeslf to letting my natural dark hair grow in. It has been since march, my hair is very short and is now half grown in. However it is not that dark any more. A lot of it is ****grey***** . Finally after months of missing my blond hair I got on the internet, looked it up and it turns out that with proper swim shampoo, lots of conditioner, and a little bleach I can be blonde again!!!!!!! Goodbye grey hair! Good bye dark roots!!!! By tomorrow I will be blonde again!!!!!

I will betcha I will swim faster! Do blonde triathletes have more fun I wonder??????

my wife used to work for a company called Malibu 200, which makes a swimmers shampoo and a product called crystal gel treatment that helps pepole with blonde hair from getting the dreaded blonde to green experience.

Whether or not you have problems with the "turning green" also depends on the kind of chemicals your pool uses.  My hair is naturally blond and when I swam as a kid there would be a slight greenish tinge by the end of the summer.

Now, I lighten (dye and bleach) my hair and haven't had any of those problem with the green thing.  I also think it's cause I take better care of my hair now, better shampoo etc.  From your pic, your hair looks really short, so you probably wouldn't have any problems anyway, the greeness only happened on the bottom part of my hair, and my hair was fairly long at the time.  There's also a woman who swims at my pool and her hair is practically white and there is not a shadow of green in it.

I wouldn't worry about it, just go with the color you like the best.  Pool chemicals do tend to keep bleaching it out, so you may have to maintain the color more often, or you may find you like the effect.
