Well I would have to say that my winter training has started. 0913 I went out for a run and at 9:13:16 the hail started! Interest in running? Zero, but I stayed with it. ran with the dogs (new one needs some work!)
So what is everyone else looking at doing for staying fit this winter? Me, trail running; lots! bike: just started playing with my Computrainer (I have the bestest wife in the world!!!) Swim; hitting the Coquitlam pool down the road as often as I can with a few stops at Canada Games. Looking forward to the winter, building muscle, endurance and building plans for 2010. Next year will be a good one. Who else is kicking it into high gear in the season of dark, dreary and damp training times? Good luck to everyone and here's hoping you all stay healthy and well!

I went to my first spin class last weekend and plan on doing that quite a bit. I got in a road ride yesterday between rain, hail and whatever. Don't mind running in any weather and I live about 2kms from the Hyde Creek pool. Will probably join the Master's Program there as well. I do off ice training with hockey teams as well so I can get in a workout with them as well. Plan on getting back to Kona in February which is my favourite place to train.

I rode my bike for about 5 hours yesterday in Vancouver, Richmond, North Delta, Ladner & Tsawassen and it was brilliantly sunny the whole time. Okay, there was some clouds, but certainly no hail or rain, so I guess I was lucky. I admit, the reason I went to South Delta is because it's always sunnier there.

My winter training consists of, cycling: Wednesday & Friday at the velodrome (maybe outside to the velodrome too), then Saturday & Sunday outside rain or shine and swimming: Tuesday & Thursday evenings at the VAC.

I'm trying to find a job in Calgary - and preparing a move there. It SNOWS there! LOTS! All the winter long! And it doesn't melt!

You light-weights on the Island/Mainland got nuttin to complain about! lol.

But believe me - I am enjoying Victoria weather every day, for as long as I can. If luck holds out, I won't move till March/April/ish, so I'll miss the worst of winter. Not looking forward to going back to the chinooks, though - I always got such terrible headaches.

Running, running, and more running.  Bike's already on the trainer, sad to say. Probably won't swim until January.  Weight training and hitting the gym for cardio too.

Gotta try and get s'more . I'll be trying to go outside whenever I can but I'm also signed up for a Learn to Ride clinic at the Velodrome! We'll see how that goes!

Hopefully a lot of trail running this winter - LOVE the trail running!

Swimming, well, that will probably wait until January! Sooner only if I'm feeling really guilty!

And we'll throw in some weights when the weather doesn't co-operate!

DUDE - how tall are you?  If you like the Velodrome and you're 5'4-5'6 I might just have a GRRRRRRRREAT deal for you!!  Something makes me think you're only a little taller than me ... maybe I'm remembering wrong ...

When are you taking the clinic??

I'm about 5'6"-5'7" depending on the day! Whadya got?? And is my wife going to be okay with it? I've got 5 bikes right now but I was already thinking about getting a fixie.....

This winter for me is all about getting back into training.  I took 2 years off after IMC in 2007.  Not intentionally though the the couch and potato chips won me over for a while.

Currently I'm mostly running.  Trying to build up to around a solid 25 - 30 miles per week by Feb.  In Feb I start a 12 week 10k training program and I'm going to take a shot at a 10k PB in April.  In Jan I will start swimming with my tri club again and I'm planning on short course next summer and probably for the next few years.  Ironman was fun but I've learned I enjoy a good session at the track over a 30k run any day.  Short and fast (relatively) for the foreseeable future.
