Oh Wow!  I just stumbled upon this race.... Says it's a "fire leaping, mud crawling, beer drinking, run from hell!!!"

How far is too far to drive for a 3 to 4 mile race?  Closest one to me is 6 hours :-(

Anyone ever do a mud run?

A friend and me both former Marines plan to do the Dallas Ft worth Mud Run. I think the fall race will be in October this year and the Spring in April last time I checked it was a 10k Obstacle corse in the mud. Also a 5 Hour drive for me from Houston.

I'm signed up for the Chicago Warrior Dash. I did the Muddy Buddy http://muddy-buddy.competitor.com/in Chicago in 2008. I love crazy races!

I did a 5 mile mud run in VA in the fall.  Mud was a bit misleading; it was mostly sand.  It was tough, fun, and the post race beer, pizza, and dip in the ocean was a blast!

I did the Warrior Dash in Chicago last year and it was just......meh.  The "fire pit" was not really a pit at all and most of the obstacles were somewhat easy.  The mud pit was sorta fun, but there were some wires so you couldn't really go full-on and dive in without fear of getting caught on something.  The swag was cool though as I got a warrior helmet; drinking after-party was OK.

The muddy-buddy races are the way to go.  I think I'm going to sign up for that one this year.

Hmm..  I may have to do it with you.  This just looks too crazy to pass up.  The timing fits my race schedule.  Could be a fun weekend getaway.

I've been wanting to do a mud run, but seems the ones around here sponsored by the marines are for teams moreso than individuals.  I've got to do a muddy, dirty race at least once!

And I want one of those viking helmets...

Dood, see ya at the Dash, I signed up for the 12:00 wave.  1 week after PTC - International, looking forward to it.  Free beer, Viking Helmet, what's not to love?  Wonder if it's ANSI approved, that would be the anti-aero helmet!

You're not kidding! the viking helmet and the free beer are worth the entry fee!

I'm going up with the wife and a few other couples. We're going to rent a cabin and spend the weekend...

i tried to sign up for 12:00, but it was sold out. I'm in at 12:30. I'm sure the helmet could be modified for use in a tri! That'd be HILARIOUS!

May have to meet you there in North-East Georgia for this one Maria.  My Brother lives not to far from there so it might be doable.  That could be a fun trip.

Perfect, this comes right between Boulder 70.3 and the Harvest Moon HIM for me, it's exactly the kind of race I'll need around that time.  Something to go have fun with and not care about time.   I'm in for the Rocky Mountain one at Copper Mtn.

I did the Boulder Muddy Buddy last year... I'm ready for more mud!

I'm signed up for the SoCal Warrior Dash on April 10!
I've never done a Mud Run (they sell out as fast as an Ironman) so I'm pretty excited about this race!

I talked my BF into this and he's up for the drive, so I think we'll be going!  It's 2 weeks after my first HIM, so will be a great way to wind down and have fun.

Not only that, I attended a meeting to form a new Tri Club in my area just two days ago.  We came up with the name "Tri-Warriors" for the team.  I wonder if I can recruit any of them for this race!  Being Warriors, it's a good fit!

12:00 and 1:00 are both sold out for Southeast.  I guess I should register soon.

Brian, you know you and I are destined to race together sooner or later!  Come on down and get your brother to do this too!  Long drive for a short race, but at least you have family nearby.

I simply MUST have one of those viking hats!

Since I can't annoy my coworkers by bragging about an Ironman, I guess I'll have to annoy them by wearing a viking hat at my desk.  It's the least I can do...

Have fun storming the castle!!!

My BF and I registered for 12:30 southeastern.  Now how do you train for this thing?

FAQ

How do I train for Warrior Dash?

1.   Day one: run as far as you can. Go home. Day two: do the same thing.

2.  Find the dirtiest pond in your neighborhood and snorkel in it - in your slippers, without goggles.

3.  Practice your climbing and crawling skills at your local jungle gym.  Ignore the small children and parental glares.

4.  Do not shower or shave for weeks in order to obtain a true Warrior look.

Are there showers available after the challenge?

There will be a fire truck to help spray you down, but stay home if you don’t like getting dirty.

Mine better be a helmet!

d00d - so with you at 12:30, thanks giving me the 30 minute head start but you'll probably still pass me on course.  Next year for the Xterra trail run, I get a 5 minute head start....  Too bad Tanner Sprint is before the Dash, the viking helmet in that tiny/crowded transition would be easy to find the bike.
