Hello,

I am about to buy my first trisuit. I looked at the reviews, but the info there is a little limited. I will be doing my first long races this year. I am hoping to use it in my Oly, HIM and IM. I live in a warm, humid place if that is a factor. Also would like to go for comfort above performance. I am not trying to break any records. A

Thanks for any input...

Gerry

You can look at Pearl Izumi
http://www.pearlizumi.com/shop.php?pc_id=7&mode=products&outlet=

They make different price point suits from "base" to "elite" to "pro"

Thanks Trigertas,

I was hoping to get some feedback on suits people have used and could recommend. I did take a look at the link, but I could not find the trisuits.

Thanks,

Gerry

Get a two piece.  At least I would for the longer events.  It's easier to find your fit, and a lot of people find them more comfortable than the one pieces.

I've used DeSoto and loved them.  2XU was also good.  Our current team kits are Sugoi and I love them as well.  Don't like my Tyr shorts so much.  If you're in the type of place where wetsuits won't be legal, you may not even need a top.

I've been using Desoto Trisuits since 05.  I like them over some of the other brands because of the longer 10" leg length.

I have a Jagged Trisuit that is very comfortable. After using some Desoto shorts lately, I am probably going to purchase a Desoto trisuit soon. Their stuff is very comfortable and their customer service is really hard to beat.

i use the 2xu mens endurance and i also use 2 piece desoto stuff. the desoto stuff is really awesome, but i really like the fit of the 2xu suit as well. i doubt you would be disappointed with either choice.

I have an orca one piece with no pockets.  I have used for short races.

I have a zoot one piece with pockets that I have used for longer races.

I just picked up an older model DeSoto one piece, and I have to say it is the most comfortable of the three.  Single big pocket in the back.  Chamois goes up really high in the front, which I find to be better "protection" when riding in aero for a while.

I will buy more DeSoto suits and shorts in the future.

Thanks for all the info.

It looks like the DeSotos are getting the best reviews in terms of comfort. I do want to use it for both short and long races.

Looking at the DeSoto one piece, I found the Forza and the Speedsuit. Has anyone used the Speedsuit? Is is lighter and not as padded/comfortable?

Thanks

Gerry

ZOOT's Ultra series is top of the line but VERY comfortable, especially on the bike. They are my sponsor, but I wore their stuff even before that. It's well made (wasn't so much a few years ago), incorporates a lot of active compression, especially in the tri shorts and run shorts, and is comfortable to swim in.

What is the word on Sugoi?  I'm a 'brand champion' so I get 50% off the ridiculous prices.  Any other good places to look?

I have the Forza and really like it. I had a Zoot before that. The DeSoto is more comfortable for me. I can't compare to the speedsuit from personal experience, but the speedsuit doesn't have pockets and is supposed to be for short races only.

Thanks Viking, that is what I was thinking too and since I will be doing a couple of long races I think the pockets will be greatly appreciated.

Now I have to start looking for a good deal ;-)

I have 2 trisuits:

2xu Elite (Front Zip): This is what I use for short distance triathlons as it is quick through the water, comfortable, better value than the Super Elite and has a front zip. Really like it, however it does wear down pretty quick, have done 5 tris in it this season, with 3 to go and will replace for next year.

Kiwami Twinki Bottoms and K-Singlet top, this is for anything over Oly Distance. I was very impressed with the materials and the comfort. I love TriSuits!! but for long distance you want two piece, they are more comfortable to wear, can offer better venitlation and they generally have more pockets.

I am 5"11 and 149lbs and am a Medium

Secondly dont get sucked in to all that crap about faster through the water stuff (like the 2xu super elite) if you wear a wetsuit, just worry about fit and breathability.

Desoto forza... end of conversation.. I have used Orca, 2XU and others and the Desoto is the best suit I have ever owned.

I have the desoto Forza, Love it.
The only down side is hitting the pre-race porta potty.
I am a clyde and it takes a bit of getting used to the acrobatics required to get out quickly.
The only other thing is that the body marking ran and I have some streaks on the suit.

My first choice would be by far 2xu. great stuff with i think a MUCH more comfortable pad than any of the others. normal mid-length leg, and a few diff styles to fit your racing.
I've raced in their 1 and 2 piece, and got th race sponsored by them last year. great products.

my 2nd choice would be zoot, and as brian said they make some awesome suits as well (never worn their 1 piece but the 2 pieces are great and i wiould highly recommend them.

I prefer two piece over one piece because of being able to go to the bathroom and being able to decide I don't like a top and go with a different top and still use my race shorts. Also if something happens to a top or shorts, like a crash or a tear, I am not out a ton of money.

My dh has a one piece and it seems like it has gotten stretched out in weird places. I also had to sew a couple places back together.

As far as brand, I have DeSoto, TYR and Titanwear trishorts and the DeSotos are the only ones that don't bother me on the bike. I was wearing the TYRs for a trainer ride today, and there is a seam right up the middle of the crotch that is extremely irritating and makes it hard to get comfortable in the saddle. The DeSoto pad is much thinner, but it doesn't bother me in my sensitive spots.
