Gotcha I LOVE FOX NEWS! I started watching it to drive my parents crazy, but now I am addicted. Its like diet coke, or crack. They would call and ask me what I was doing and I would say watching O'Rielly (sp) and they would be like you damned conservative! You are beign brain washed! Perhaps I was....but its alright by me.

Give me Fox News, the weather channel, and espn. That sums it up!

It is entertaining. I listen to it on XM radio a lot. I always seem to be in the car when Daytime with Linda Vester is on. But, at night it is CNN all the way, baby! Prime News Tonight kicks butt and Nancy Grace puts Greta to shame!!

I get most of my news from different internet news sites. I really don't watch too many news stations or shows, except for the occasional Scarborough Country, but I think everyone puts Greta to shame. (and I am a political conservative).

IMO, most news organizations are slanted to the right or left in some way, there are very few that are straight shooters. Which is why is good to news from a variety of resources.

Fox is killing because 95% of all news on other stations is left leaning. Fox is right leaning and basically the only one. Cracks me up people who complain that fox gives the rights point of view but yet never complain about every single other station giving the lefts!!! As for watching it..I dont have time for TV anymore...

Fox "News" is nothing more than the PR wing of the Bush administration. If you want to hear the white House's lies told in an entertaining tone it serves a purpose, personally I think it's crap.

FYI - 95% of news outlets do not lean to the left. Its just that conservatives believe any news story which doesn't paint their point of view in the most positive light is "liberal." In reality most news outlets lean slightly right of center in making editorial decisions because they are coporate owned and cannot afford to lose sponsorship.

Mul that is one of the funniest things I have heard in a while. Spoken like a true liberal....there is NO NEWS anymore. Every thing you see on the "news" is an editorial giving their point of view. and if you think the major news outlets lean the right you are the most left liberal I have ever hear of...If you want the truth watch Fox then watch any other major news source (cnn msnbc or any local news) the truth is somewhere in the middle of the 2...

I said this above and I still agree with it.

Just as Fox skews some news stories, so do many other news stations. Take for instance the Dan Rather situation of last year. This was partly a story to show how much of a slacker that Bush was. They were so interested in getting to press to bash Bush that time wasn't taken to get the facts straight.

In this fast paced society, there will be little research, a lot said, and much discussion. It is hard for many of these shows to discuss things w/o being slanted (if only somewhat) to one side.

Other than Internet sources and the ocassional NPR segments that I listen to, the only TV new that I watch is The Daily Show with John Stewart. He makes fun of both sides equally.

I don't think most news sources lean hard right like Fox, but msnbc and cnn absolutely are somewhat right of center. Outlets like CNN and MSNBC have allowed the current administration to skate on some very serious issues. Yet, those same outlets put serious pressure on the last administration for trivial matters.

As far as the need to find objective truth, there is no such thing. It is all a matter of perception and the preconceived ideas of those filtering information. I don't begrudge Fox, or any othernews source its viewership, they are only producing what viewers want. I am saddened by the fact that the viewership which drives what is on these stations has so radically moved to the right that we are still seeing debates about what should be non-controversial topics like evloution and the right to die with dignity.

Pure BS.

I invite you to learn a little bit about Sinclair Broadcasting Group or Pappas Telecasting.

Name as many liberal radio talk show hosts as you can. Now name as many right wing radio talk show hosts as you can.

Now give me one example of a network whose national news director gave reporters explicit instructions to slant their reports towards the left/Democrats the way Fox reporters were instructed to slant stories towards the Bush administration during the election last year.

That's just off the top of my head.

The truth is somewhere in the middle, but making up numbers and baseless generalizations doesn't do your argument any good.

  • I will respectfully disagree with you on this. Evolution is called a "theory" because it can not be fully substantiated. If it were a fact, you could say that it should not be controversial. Just like creationism, I believe that world was created by a higher power (God). To me the complexity of our body, the atmosphere, the galaxy, and everything else that I believe was created cries out that something in all of this has design and there has to be a designer. For someone to look at the way a body functions with all of the systems running throughout the entire body, especially the human brain, and say that all of this happened by chance and gradually morphed as time progressed, makes no sense to me.

Anyway not trying to start a fight or call anyone an idiot, just presenting another side that should be thought about.

Look - I don't want to offend anyone, but the fact that evolution is scientifically called a "theory" means nothing. That is a term of art. Scientists refer to gravity as a "theory" as well, yet I don't see Jerry Fallwell screaming to keep gravity from being taught in schools.

I respect your right to believe whatever you want. Personally I think that believing we exist by the design of some greater being is pure fantasy. To each their own. What bothers me about this debate is the fact that those with religious convictions about these issues are seeking to repress ideas which are based on the best available scietific evidence because of what they "believe." If you don't like evolution - don't believe it, but don't try to pass laws to repress it.

Personally I'm dumbfounded, however, that people think the idea of evolution is at all controversial.

Now I know what the counter argument is - "Ok then we want creationism taught in schools as well." If it is a private religious institution, sure no problem. If, however, it is a public school then there are constitutional constraints against it.

Sorry for the hijack here - I cited the evolution thing as an example and we wandered off topic.

FOX news was on the TV in the locker room at the gym while I was changing yesterday. I swear the anchor said the exact same thing a million times in a row:

"Okay police are saying the scene is secure." "The police have secured the scene." "We NOW have word the the scence, yes, in fact the scene has been secured by police." "Let's go to Bob, Bob?"

"Thanks, yes police are reporting they have secured the scene at this time."

"So Bob what is your take on the situation. Any update from the police."

"We as you know we've received confirmation.....from the police...that the scene is secure."

It was so aggravating I just walked over and turned it to appropriate lockeroom material..."ESPN-8, The Ocho".

I think any news program, whatever way they lean, cannot be taken at face value. Have you ever seen a report on something about which you have first hand knowledge? I do quite a lot in my job, and have in the past from my military experiences. One thing is universal. No one, anywhere, ever, gets it right. Ever. It's entertainment, just like movies and all the other crap on television. It's whatever sell ad time. Now the Daily Show, on the other hand, at least they admit to being fake. And it's damn funny.

rock on. the daily show is THE best source of fake news out there. At least it actually achieves the entertainment goal I personally got rid of my cable a few months ago. I abhore advertising and got sick of paying for it. I get all my news online from various places and sometimes from the radio. I personally believe TV, and sometimes most especially cable news, is just an outlet to push our consumerism to higher levels. Its amazing how much less you buy when you aren't watching hours of commericals and clever product placement every day...

Why is it that when someone states their opinion on a topic it is construed as wrong when you don't agree? The great thing about this country is that everyone is entitled to their own personal beliefs and opinions. Regardless of your political views, every office will slant information one way or another. It is up to us to filter the information by research. Reading one article will not give everyone the answers. I just think its sad that our county is still using the 2 party system. I feel that those of us that toe the line between liberalism and conservatism are unjustly labled because of the way they voted. Do I agree with Bush on Everything, No. Do I Agree with Kerry on Everything, No. But since I voted for Bush the past two elections I'm labled Right Winged conservative. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but once someone lables me and tells me that my beliefs are wrong is when that person crosses the line. Hell if we all need to believe one thing is right and there is no alternative we might as well institute a dictatorship and shoot anyone who doesn't conform to that administrations beliefs. Venting and Ranting. Just my 2 cents. Now rip me apart.

You may not consider yourself conservative, but if you voted for president short pants twice you have certainly done your part to place and keep the far right in power.

He was the better of the two candidates in my opinion. Hind site is 20/20 and fantasy land is always 100%. I don't regret voting for Bush. Had it been Clinton again, (Even though he couldn't run again) I would have voted for Clinton. I voted for who I BELIEVE was a better candidate. Yes, I did research the agendas for both parties and made an educated decision for myself in the past election. If everyone were to see eye to eye and agree on everything we would live in a eutopia, unfortunately we don't. Again, it just amazes me that people get so uptight about politics. Find a better Democrat to run in the next election and they might get my vote. I will research and filter what each candidate has to say and make an educated decision for myself.
