Didn't "reread" it but saw it earlier this week...part that made me mad about the version I saw is that they made a bigger deal about the dog than the kids!

I'm with you. What about the two girls he attacked. Hardly mentioned in the article. Yes, what he did to the dog was awful, but raping a 13 year old girl is FAR worse.

So this is how the BTK's of the world start. Had a kid in our neighborhood who started mistreating animals, to mistreating siblings and parents, to grandparents, to neighbors, etc. Caught masterbating in public, urinating on neighborhood cars and homes. Molested a 5 year old girl. All before he was 13. I believe the two best a$$ kickings he got were from my two sons.
He has been incarcerated since he was 13. I'm sure they will have to release him when he turns 18. Only long enough to victimize someone. Sometimes there's no substitute for good marksmanship training.

I used to work for Probation and Parole, I had to read some of the most vile acts that one human could commit on another in the criminal complants.

You'd think I'd have toughened up, but some things you just cannot get used to.

What always makes me think is "what sort of background produces someone so damn sick?".  NOT that I have pity mind you, but where in the hell does that come from?

Cindy, I agree. Not trying to make excuses for the kid, but I'd be seriously surprised if he hadn't been subjected to some brutal sexual abuse himself. People don't just randomly end up this twisted.
